My very first job in middle school was babysitting, followed shortly by volunteer work as a tutor through my school's Honor Society. I quickly grew to love working with other students, particularly in math, helping them to understand challenging material. I live for the "light bulb" moments, when my student's eyes begin to shine as he/she begins to gain confidence and mastery of the subject. In college, I earned my B.A. at Tufts University with a double major in Clinical Psychology and Child Development, and then went on to earn my M.S. at Northeastern University in Applied Behavior Analysis. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), in my day job I primarily work with children with special needs (primarily Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ODD, along with other diagnoses) helping them to learn HOW to learn and to acquire the necessary pre-academic, academic, communication, social, and self-care skills needed for success and happiness. I came back to tutoring because I wanted additional work that would be meaningful and exciting to me. My passion is working with children and adolescents and helping to motivate them to learn. I work one-on-one with my clients and find our greatest success comes when I work to engage them, find what motivates them and will increase their interest in the material. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and pets (2 dogs and 7 cats), cooking/baking, and exploring the beautiful wildlife we have here in Florida.
