I enjoy helping students learn more about math. It is a great feeling to see the "light bulb" turn on. I have been a math teacher and tutor for over 10 years, which includes teaching secondary, collegiate, and graduate courses. I earned a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. I also have an M.B.A. in quantitative business analysis from Indiana University and earned my secondary mathematics teaching license/certification at Indiana Wesleyan University.

I have been coaching students to their best performance in math for seven years. I am fluent in all levels of math, primary, secondary, and freshman/sophomore university level. I am also fluent with the mathematics which one may find on the ACT, SAT, GRE, ASVAB, CLEP test and most standardized test. My background in Engineering also gives me a level of confidence with computer science and general sciences such as physics and chemistry. I have over a year of study in each myself. Overall, I have had much success working with students in various languages and levels of computer programming.

When I was in high school, I remember seeing the joy of my math teachers when they would teach in class. This inspired me to become a high school math teacher. The first step was becoming a peer tutor to my classmates. This lead to tutoring math to college students. Then tutoring students while working as a TA. Then I worked as a data scientist which not only did I understand more how to apply math in the workspace, but also learned how to explain math concepts to coworkers without a strong math background. This helped me to shape my tutoring philosophy to relate to the person being tutored and this opened the door to me teaching high school calculus 1 & calculus 2!

I am a professional tutor and certified teacher with a Master's degree in Math Education. I specialize in 5th/6th/7th/8th grade Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2. I am engaging, enthusiastic, and keep communication a high priority. I also tutor SAT and ACT test prep as well as PSAT, SSAT and HSPTs

After an 11-year hiatus, I am excited to return to one-on-one tutoring in high school and college-level precalculus, calculus, and physics. My goal is to build students' confidence in subjects that often feel overwhelming by identifying the root of their challenges - whether it's a forgotten foundational skill or a mismatch in teaching and learning styles - and helping them work through those roadblocks with clarity and patience. I discovered my passion for tutoring in high school through volunteer mentoring and later assisted classmates in physics at my teacher's request. Since then, I have supported students in courses ranging from geometry to upper-level calculus. I am currently tutoring while pursuing my next full-time opportunity, most recently having worked for a railroad construction products supplier.

I have a Master's of Teaching with a focus in secondary mathematics from Virginia Commonwealth University and Bachelor's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Economics from the College of William and Mary. I am currently a high school math teacher and am passionate about cultivating a love for mathematics.

I'm a junior undergraduate at Florida State University with over 200 hours of tutoring experience, both online and in person. I've been teaching for more than two years, including students with learning disorders like ADHD, and I mainly specialize in physics, chemistry, calculus, and algebra. Outside of tutoring, I've been a soccer coach for the past four years, which taught me patience, creativity, and how to keep things engaging no matter who I'm working with. I can tutor math through chemistry, physics, and statistics, tying lessons to real-life applications and adjusting my approach to fit each student- because there's never just one "right" way to understand a problem.

I am a graduate of the University of Florida as well as the University of Washington, where I earned my Bachelors and Masters degree in Applied Mathematics, respectively. Since graduating, I have worked in different I.T. capacities such as Quality assurance and programming, but I have always made time to tutor students in math. Helping others to do math is one of my passions because I know how good it feels to go from "what is this math?" to "this actually makes sense!". Although I tutor all math courses ranging from 7th grade level through undergraduate level, algebra has to be my favorite math to tutor because I see it as the starting point of mathematics; it's the course where students are introduced to conceptual math. Getting a solid foundation in algebra affects all future math courses as well as science courses. Outside of tutoring, I like to work out, play blitz chess, and watch basketball and football.

After teaching for fifteen years from grade six to college level students there is one truth I have learned. Learning can only occur if the student has a point of reference. As teachers we have the responsibility to evaluate our student's level of knowledge and to increase their level of understanding, comprehension, analysis, and diagnosis of the subject we teach. Furthermore, I believe that a teacher is morally obligated to enter the classroom with only the highest of expectations for each and every one of her students. Thus, the teacher maximizes the positive benefits that naturally come along with any self-fulfilling prophecy. With dedication, perseverance, and hard work, her students will rise to the occasion. I aim to bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations to the classroom each day. I believe that I owe it to my students, as well as the community, to bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in the children as well.
