I am a lifelong learner. When I was still in school, my parents would ask me about my day because they wanted to know what I was learning. We would discuss it at the dinner table and eventually I couldn't wait to share with them my new found knowledge. My dad always said he would much rather have a hard earned "C" than an easy "A" because he learned more when he worked harder for it. That has influenced my personal and professional life forever. A's are wonderful, but if you can't recall what you learned then what was the point?I have over 30 years educational experience with students from early childhood to adults. I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education K-12, General Ed EC-8 grades, and my Masters degree in Instructional Technology. I am certified in ESL and Dyslexia.I have taught my students that learning is not meant to just pass a test or get a good grade, learning is to be internalized and used to help them through their life to do whatever they want. I want my students to be lifelong learners and enjoy learning as much as I do!

Empowering young learners is my passion. With 27 years as a Texas K-1 teacher and PK-2 Intervention Specialist, I specialize in reading and math (Orton Gillingham, Reading Simplified, Science of Reading trained) and support students with fine motor and speech needs. I am trained in Orton Gillingham, Reading Simplified, and the Science of Reading, with extensive professional development and certifications (Texas Reading/Math Academies). Having navigated reading challenges, myself and supported my daughter with Dyslexia, I offer both expertise and empathy. I'm dedicated to building student confidence, advocating for their needs (and yours!), and pursuing my Speech Language Pathologist degree to further enhance my skills. Let's connect and discuss your child's success!
I believe that to learn something the student has to be an active participant. If students take ownership of their own learning, then the process of learning becomes meaningful and lasting. The educator is merely a facilitator for learning. Throughout my life I have been profoundly influenced by teachers who guided me through my own journey in education. They taught me that a good teacher opens the door, though it is you who must walk through it. With their encouragement, patience, and caring I overcame many hurdles to achieve things in education that I had always believed were beyond my grasp. Those achievements have led to a more fulfilling life. As an educator, I believe it is my duty to share with others what was given to me.

My continual thirst for knowledge has led me to pursue my interests in engineering and medicine. I wish to share my enthusiasm for learning by helping others improve their understanding of concepts with customized teaching approaches.
I finished my PhD in Environmental Science in 2020 (at the Univ. of Windsor in Ontario, Canada), and completed a postdoc at ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. I am now an independent contractor and science writer. Some of my work is on my website, www.karistahudelson.com. I am passionate about education and truly enjoy helping students with science and math courses. I have tutored for undergraduate level chemistry, algebra, and biology courses and taught undergraduate level environmental science, biology, genetics, and molecular biology laboratory sections.
I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. This August I will continue my education at the University of Oklahoma Medical School in OKC. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon and specialize in sports medicine. I have always loved any type of science course and enjoy helping others understand it and become successful.I have previous tutoring experience in basic science courses such as chemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy, and biochemistry. I have also tutored in many different math subjects such as algebra, geometry, and trig. However, I have a passion for tutoring students with the ACT. By taking the time to study for this rigorous test, students can reap the benefits through academic scholarships and much more. I have tutored many different students and have been able to see them improve after each practice test.Outside of school, I am very active. I love working out and playing sports. Throughout high school, I played basketball, ran cross country, and rode horses. Now, I lift weights and do personal research in nutrition and athletics. I hope to one day combine my love of medicine and overall health in order to help my patients one day.
I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University, having received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in May, 2024. During my time at Oklahoma State I was a "Big Brother" for the Stillwater, OK "Big-Brother-Big-Sister" organization. I spent a great deal of time during my upbringing in Scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and have a great deal of passion and excitement for learning and teaching students/people who are also excited to learn and develop their skills. I am most excited about educating students in Spanish regarding the cultural and linguistic elements. American and World History are also educational interests of mine. In my spare time I enjoy tabletop games, rock climbing, the outdoors, food and travel, and a myriad of other hobbies such as guitar and art-creation.
I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University with degrees in Accounting and Economics. I have worked as a tutor for over a decade at the Learning And Student Success Opportunity (LASSO) Center on Stillwater's main campus. I have recently moved to Oklahoma City to be in closer proximity to my family and wish to continue my work as a tutor here. In my years of experiences as a tutor, I have learned to efficiently identify each student's unique learning tendencies and best mold the appropriate responses to their inquiries. I want students to understand that the process to achieving the right answers is just as vital if not more so. While I have grown quite adept at my job, I know there is always room for improvement and hope to continue my own development as an educator with every new experience.
I have made a successful profession out of education and I am dedicated to helping students of all ages to grow and to have a deeper understanding of all areas of English Language Arts. As someone that once struggled with reading comprehension, it is important to me that students gain the skills that they need in order to be successful and to be able to recall what they just read. I can remember my teachers asking me to read aloud in class. I was always extremely uncomfortable and self conscious about it. I don't want any student, young or old, to feel that way. Grammar is also a passion of mine and I feel that it is important for students to understand so that they can not only be successful in school, but also be successful in their everyday lives. I truly believe that if students have a good grasp on English and Reading, the skills that they take the time to learn now will stick with them and help them forever in all areas of their lives.
Teaching and learning are lifelong passions of mine. I love to help people understand and be amazed by learning new things. People who were previously uninterested in a topic become suddenly fascinated when they learn something truly amazing. My philosophy has always been that anybody can learn anything if they are interested in the subject. Ability is only limited by interest. So, I love to spark that interest and build a core of understanding and then let the student build on that understanding. So, I always work at the student's pace. I have no problem going over a topic again if it is needed and I strongly encourage questions.
I am a recent graduate with a master's in Molecular Medicine and Innovative Treatment (MSc MMIT) from the University of Groningen and a master's in Medical Science from Uppsala University, earned through the Erasmus+ International Double Master in Innovative Medicine (IMIM) program. My academic journey began at Oklahoma State University, where I completed a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with minors in Spanish and Microbiology. I have been tutoring since 2016, offering personalized, one-on-one sessions in subjects including algebra, geometry, ACT preparation, Spanish, and biology. My approach centers on creating a positive and supportive learning environment, helping students build confidence and a strong self-concept in their academic abilities. My background in scientific research, including studies in neuroscience and oncology, informs my teaching, bringing real-world applications into our sessions. I am passionate about education and committed to empowering my students to achieve their academic goals.
