I finished my B.A. in Asian Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with certificates in Chinese language and China studies. Currently, I am finishing my M.A. in Chinese Linguistics at the University of Arizona's Department of East Asian Studies (I currently live in Pittsburgh). I tutor all levels of Chinese, which I've studied for over seven years. I participated in Chinese learning programs at Middlebury College and study abroad programs at Nanjing University and Sichuan University. I've also worked as a Chinese tutor at IUP and a teaching assistant for Chinese and East Asian linguistics courses at the University of Arizona. I've also taught my own courses in each! One of my favorite experiences involves designing online course materials for hybrid and online Chinese language courses. I have a passion for language, East Asian linguistics, and online language teaching. I believe students deserve tutoring designed around their OWN interests in Chinese. I utilize innovative software to design personalized lessons for both online and in-person sessions and teach Chinese with a strong focus on language, culture, and real-world application. I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May 2014. I received my Bachelors of Science in Physics with a Mathematics minor. I was inspired by my high school physics teacher to pursue physics; his fervor for the subject and for teaching has been my aspiration since I left secondary school! In my studies, I have found a passion for teaching, and have begun my second degree in Physics Education. My teaching experience started with instructing a local high school drum line (which I still pursue), and progressed to tutoring college students in physics. My philosophy on teaching is that everything can be accomplished through a set of small, achievable steps. An analytic outlook will help all students regardless of age or skill set to achieve not in the classroom, but also in countless facets of life. Math and science provide a new lens through which to see the world, and it is my goal to help all students achieve that vision.

I have been working with children and teaching a variety of subjects and ages for about fifteen years. I became a certified K-12 French teacher after graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and I recently got my Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. During my time at IUP I studied abroad in Nancy, France and completed an internship teaching English to elementary school French students. I have taught French ranging from introductory levels to CHS (college in high school) and have tutored French students of all ages in basic vocabulary, grammar, conversation, and more. While at Pitt, I worked on acquisition of language, including some course work and tutoring in English as a Second Language.In addition to French, I was a fifth grade teacher for three years, where I taught subjects such as math, history, geography, literature, language arts, spelling, and writing. I have worked with students on problem-solving and test-prep specifically in math and language arts.I love working one-on-one with students and discovering the individual differences that exist within each learner. I pride myself in treating my students with patience, professionalism, and most importantly, respect. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and strive to pass my love of learning along to my students.

I am a self-taught programmer as I obtained my undergraduate degree in finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned my Master's degree at Virginia Tech in Business Intelligence.I specialize in teaching introductory python, SQL, and databases. These skills are extremely useful for anyone who deals with data, including business analysts and entry level-developers.In my personal experience, the best way to learn these skills is to apply them. During that time, I have familiarized myself with the duties and responsibilities of what a Dietitian does in the hospital setting. As such, I have a strong background in the clinical aspects of the RD exam. I was actually hired by the hospital I interned at prior to passing the RD exam, and since passing the exam myself, I have helped multiple Dietetic Interns that I have precepted also pass the RD exam.It brings me great joy to help students familiarize themselves with the subject matter on the RD Exam as well as better understand the importance of nutrition as a science as they prepare themselves in their roles as future Dietitians.In the future I would like to obtain a Masters and/or certification in Functional medicine which I believe to be the future of our healthcare system.

I have had the extreme good fortune of receiving a fine education in a subject (History) I feel very passionate about. Since then, I have enriched that education via an unbounded curiosity about the world and its inhabitants combined with a strong zest for learning. My personal desire to put this knowledge to good use by helping to educate others is precisely why I became a teacher/tutor. Every single person on this Earth is capable of learning no matter what their age or circumstances; it is simply a question of effort. Through patience and persistence comes perseverance!

I am a Physics major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I'm from the Philly area. I enjoy reading about engineering, physics, computer science, and math. I have had the opportunity to teach and to tutor thousands of students over my 33 year teaching career. I believe that each student is unique, and that academic skills and weaknesses should be assessed and targeted for the best results. I also hope that it can be a FUN learning experience! I love it when students develop a passion for a subject like Biology, or develop an understanding and/or respect for Algebra, Geometry, etc. Most important to me is that the student ultimately feels successful, and sees improvement.
