I believe strongly in every student's ability to be successful. I am a first generation college graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics. December of 2020 I will be finishing a Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Southern Methodist University. I can relate with students who struggle or feel underprepared for a course because I've been there, but I also know you can succeed, because I did. I have been tutoring or teaching in some compacity since 2009 as an undergraduate tutor, high-school math teacher, and online instructor. I love working with students and helping them reach their goals!

I am a senior mechanical engineering college student with a cumulative GPA of 3.99 out of a 4.0 scale. Ive worked as volunteer tutor in a mechanical engineering drop in lab and as a teaching assistant to one of my professors. From that I learned that I really enjoy helping students to master material and succeed. I like doing math, and many kinds of engineering homework. Something interesting about me is that I did a service mission in Brazil and am fluent in Brazilian Portuguese. I love playing sports (especially basketball), and I enjoy the outdoors

I know exactly how it feels to be discouraged and/or behind in a subject. I've experienced my fair share of struggles in various courses. I also know how relieving it is when you find someone that can help you overcome your challenges. With that said, my main goal is to provide that relief and confidence to any struggling students I work with. There is truly nothing more rewarding for me than to know that I have helped a student conquer their academic fears. I could never be satisfied, as a tutor, until I know that the student is not just satisfied, but elated about their improved scholastic performance.I have a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology with clusters in chemistry and nutrition. I completed this undergraduate program from Brigham Young University-Idaho. While there, I worked as an English tutor. Some of my responsibilities were to edit essays, teach valuable test taking and study skills, and to help improve reading comprehension. Soon thereafter, I began tutoring elementary math, reading, and writing. As part of responsibilities for this job, I would travel to private schools around the Las Vegas valley and teach reading and mathematics lessons to small student groups. I'm currently employed as a reading, writing, and mathematics tutor for a private Jewish school here in Las Vegas.I have always had a passion for the English language and writing; consequently, I enjoy helping others gain that same enthusiasm but teaching reading, writing, and general English. I also love tutoring anatomy and physiology, as well as basic biology. Due to my passion in biology and the sciences, I want to pursue a career in dental medicine. I recently took the Dental Admission Test (DAT) and have applied to dental schools. Because the DAT material is still fresh on my mind, I would love to help teach various methods and techniques needed to conquer this test.My wife and I just had our first baby (boy) on August 7th and I'm loving being a dad. During my free time I love to exercise in any way I can. In particular, I like lifting weights, playing basketball, football, and tennis. I also ran cross country and played volleyball in high school. What I want most from this job is to create meaningful, enjoyable tutoring sessions. I think it is important to incorporate fun exercises into tutor sessions, as well as setting goals in order to achieve greater understanding of the subject matter.

I love learning, but I love teaching even more! I grew up with 9 younger siblings (I am second of 11) and we were all homeschooled! I grew up teaching my younger siblings in that environment and never stopped teaching.I believe everyone is entitled to a world class education because no matter what circumstances you were born into, you can change them through education and hard work.Everyone learns differently, and in a world of cookie cutter teaching methods I hope I can help the ones that struggle, not because they aren't intelligent or willing to work, but because they haven't been taught the way they need.

For me, the best thing about tutoring is being able to teach the individual, rather than the group. Learning is about connecting new information to old information, and has to be based on the teacher understanding what the student already knows, and it's easier to develop this understanding when working with students individually. Tutoring is an opportunity to help students of all levels reach their full learning potential.

I received my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from Brigham Young University and my Montessori Certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University.I love to see the lightbulb turn on as a student masters a concept. A young learner is eager to learn and that energy inspires me. When I work with a child, I like to use as many hands-on learning materials and experiences as possible. For example, in learning letter names and phonics I show objects that begin with that sound, then I assign homework as a sound hunt for objects and pictures in their home which begin with the same letter and its sound. At times learning includes a song which helps teach a concept.I enjoy tutoring -- reading, phonics, writing and math. My favorite subjects are phonics and math which are the foundation for all learning. My teaching philosophy is that each child learns in his/her own way. It is my job to discover those ways and make them part of that child's tutoring time. I believe that children learn best by doing.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Environmental Science and a Minor in German. I had a very successful career as an engineer but after several years realized that I really enjoyed interacting with people. I then switched to a Human Resources Supervisor role in which I supervised the career development of 25 - 50 young engineers. I discovered that helping and serving others is my passion and I then took on several different types of assignments where I worked with people and applied my technical background whenever possible. I worked in large companies where a variety of positions were available and I used my off-work time to gain teaching experience in a lot of different areas. While in Technical Service with the DuPont Company, I gave lectures to customers on the processing and use of engineering polymers. When I was with the Boeing Company, I organized and taught classes in cultural adaptability to employees going on international assignments. I taught classes in Technical Writing and Statistical Process Control for a year or so at a junior college. I taught fundamental German to young men and women who were heading to Germany/Austria for service assignments. I have helped teach English as a second language to immigrants. I served as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America and taught many young men about dozens of topics to earn merit badges. I have also been a tutor In Mathematics and Chemistry for college and high school students. With such varied opportunities, I have found that I just really enjoy teaching. Helping others to get more proficient in a subject where they have interest is very satisfying to me. I have a background in Mathematics, Science (particularly Chemistry), German, English, Writing, and Human Relations. Tutoring or teaching in any of those areas would be subjects that I am comfortable with. I have traveled and worked a lot internationally and have come to value other cultures and people and would be comfortable teaching people from other nationalities. I feel that understanding your student(s) and his/her perspective about the subject of interest is a key part in preparing teaching material and approach. Everyone is different and everyone may learn in a different way, so sometimes creativity is needed to find the right approach to encourage learning.

My passion for helping students comes from my life-long goal to always be learning and growing. I believe teamwork, hard work, and individual application are keys to success.Recently, I graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho with B.S. in Elementary Education and Teaching. With that degree I also have an emphasis in Social Studies that allows me to teach middle grades. Through my college and work experiences, I have been able to work with students from first grade to eighth with a variety of personalities, interests, and needs. I have loved every minute of it! Including those students who were difficult and defiant because I never gave up on them and we learned how to work together to achieve that which was once difficult. I also worked with special needs children and adults during my college career. It was a challenge, but one of the best jobs I've ever had! From it I developed patience and more of an understanding that we all learn at different paces and in different ways.Subjects I am able to tutor and feel most confident are, of course, all elementary subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. I also am confident in tutoring music as I played the clarinet for 7+ years and am self-taught on the piano. Further subjects I can tutor are life sciences, nutrition, and anatomy. Before becoming a teacher, I was studying Nursing and took CNA classes my Senior year of High School. All of these subjects are a joy to teach for me because of my experiences and passion for them.My teaching philosophy is simple: I believe in hard work in myself and with my students. Just as the world continues to grow and develop by relying on everyone and everything, I believe we all need to rely on each other in order to best reach our potentials.Outside of working and teaching, I enjoy reading historical fiction, watching movies, being outdoors, specifically biking, rollerblading, fishing, and simply walking. I enjoy spending time with handsome husband, as well.Being a born and bred Midwestern girl, I am proud of my heritage. Attending a college in the West that neighbored the Tetons provided dozens of wonderful opportunities to grow, but I never forgot where I came from. My values of integrity, optimism, respect, and simplicity that I have learned and applied stay with me always.
