Hello! My name is Mark and I'm psyched to help you find the simplest, easiest way forward in whatever subject you are working with.In the past, I tutored professionally for the SAT and ACT, and informally helped people in all subjects. As of August, 2021, I'm just getting started here on Varsity Tutors.I've worked a lot as a software engineer, so I will be focusing on Computer Science to start with. I'll be reviewing Math next, and then see what other subjects I might like to try helping with.

I want to help students gain an enthusiasm, interest, and increased understanding in mathematics. I want them to develop problem solving skills that could help them in their careers and enrich their lives. I have used mathematics my entire career and am aware of it's applications in so many areas from finance to engineering and science. If I can help a student either get past a problem in understanding a concept or solving a problem, or motivate them to appreciate mathematics I would be very satisfied.

Hello,I'm a recent graduate of the California Institute of Technology in Economics and Computer Science. I was also accepted at Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Stanford. I have a broad range of interests spanning science, math, engineering, social science, the humanities, the arts, and athletics (I also played on the Caltech basketball team). My background allows me to tutor general college prep, especially the SAT, ACT and the GRE. I love to teach analytical thinking, ranging from advanced Math and Physics to strategies for understanding literature and developing arguments.I've tutored & received tutoring my entire life. My dad started drilling me on multiplication tables at 4 and 2 years later, when my oldest sister came of age, I began working with her. 3 siblings came after her who I worked with every day to improve their mathematical & verbal reasoning, giving them assignments out of workbooks our parents got us, correcting & reviewing their answers. I still help my youngest sibling with her Calculus homework today. My first compensated tutoring gig came the summer before my junior year when I taught local high school & community college students chemistry & physics from my home. Since then I've worked constantly as a tutor, working with a company in various locations throughout the Southland. I specialize in SAT math, having led workshops & boot camps which saw some students improve their score 200 points. In college, I sharpened my tutoring skills against the world's best whetstones. I do not just mean Caltech professors, though they deserve their props. The Institute fosters a collaborative environment where students thrive through teaching and learning from others. You really cannot get by in the school without these skills. Thus, my educational experience has exposed me to many of the effective ways people learn and teach. When I tutor people, no matter what the subject, I keep my utmost focus on patience and encouragement. Even if I find the subject easy, I can harken back to long nights trying to understand complex topics at Caltech which my tutors found easy, and gain inspiration from their patience and encouragement. These experiences fostered in me a love of learning and passing my knowledge onto others.I hope you feel inclined to take advantage of my willingness, no, intense desire to work with you. I plan to remain local indefinitely as I pursue other ongoing ventures.Thank you,Brian

I am a software engineer with both academic and professional expertise. I have graduated with a masters degree in computer science in 2019 from ECU and have an undergraduate degree from Marshall University.I have over 5 years of teaching experience, with 4 being as a university tutor and 1 being as a graduate teaching assistant for computer science courses such as Java, python, web development, database management, algorithms, data structures etc.I can tutor a wide range of courses in computer science including programming related courses and all database topics. My teaching style is very hands on. I believe students will get the theory in class from their professors/ teachers. I want to focus on hands on learning and eventually taper off so that the student can perform these tasks independently.I have both academic and professional experience so I understand the skills that are critical for students should develop to be successful in both the classroom and eventually in the workplace!

I am a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamn campus. I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Currently, I am working on my Masters Degree in Data Science at Florida International University. Ever since I was an undergraduate I have been passionate in helping other students. I was the Vice-President and President of the Computer Science Student Association at my campus. Thanks, to this opportunity I have been able to give orientation talks Middle and High School students all over my country about what is Computer Science. Also, I have given various programming workshops in the Java Programming language. My teaching philosophy is observe the student first then tutor. That is, I first evaluate the students learning style, study habits and weaknesses the student has in the subject to be tutored in. So, I always adapt to each student. I tutor in the subjects of Math (K - 12 levels), Spanish and Computer Science. Due to the fact that I am fully bilingual, I can tutor any of these subjects in English and Spanish. However, I am not limited to tutor in these disciplines. I am passionate about helping students with their study and organization skills. These skills determine the success you will experience during your college and professional journey. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy dancing salsa, playing soccer and developing new apps.

I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College, currently on leave for the semester. I am a B.A. candidate in mathematics and physics, and I have both professional and academic experience in computer science as well.I am passionate about mathematics, and I have been tutoring students and peers of varying ages and abilities in math for about 7 years now. Further, I was a TA for the AP Calculus AB and BC classes in high school from my sophomore year through senior year. I have a deep interest in logical deduction and the general art of mathematical problem solving; however, it is often easy for busy students and even teachers running behind schedule to allow the reasoning and deduction to fall by the wayside in favor of a memorized algorithm for solving certain problems.Fundamentally, mathematics is an art of deriving new knowledge from what we already know, so my philosophy for teaching and tutoring mathematics is primarily concerned with the "why" of problems. The quadratic formula is useful, but if you cannot derive it, then you do not truly understand it. There are simply too many problems in mathematics to memorize solutions to all of them. Therefore, my goal as a tutor is not to throw new information at you, but rather to equip you with the logical and deductive skills to solve problems on your own, even if you have never seen the problem before.Outside the classroom, I am an amateur composer and musician. I primarily play the piano, but I also recently began to learn the theremin! I also love basically every aspect of computers, and I am especially interested in the blossoming fields of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing, one of which I hope to research professionally someday.
