Hello! I am a medical doctor that has an incredible passion for teaching. I graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a major in Neurobiology & Physiology with a minor in Human Development. I believe interactive learning is the best form of retaining knowledge but I am also able to cater to many learning styles. Helping people understand complex subjects with fun memorizing skills is the best part of teaching!

I've been a mathematician and tutor for about 15 years. I have also taught mathematics at the college level for the past 7 years. My research touches on the interactions between math and theoretical computer science, as well as number theory (largely the study of prime numbers). I've taught courses ranging from basic arithmetic up through linear algebra and multivariable calculus. The second most exciting thing about mathematics is that moment when something totally opaque and confusing suddenly solidifies into crystal clarity. It's the sort of moment that makes you shout "aha!" or "eureka!". The most exciting thing about mathematics is sharing that experience with someone else.

I am a graduate of The College of New Jersey, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Secondary Education. I teach high school biology at Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering. I tutor biology, ranging from middle school to college level. I strongly believe in the importance of a science education which stresses more than just memorization of information; science is a way of thinking which should promote inquiry and problem solving. In my spare time, I enjoy crocheting, swimming, and playing with my puppy.

I attended Northwestern University as an undergraduate, where I began tutoring and editing essays at the university writing center. I will be attending Brown University in the fall, where I will be studying public health. Having recently graduated from high school, I am very familiar with both the information and strategies required to succeed in standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT, and AP Exams. By self-study only, I made perfect scores on my first try on 8 AP Exams, SAT, and 2 SAT Subject Tests, as well as a 35 on the ACT. I know that a self-motivated student can achieve great success if they are motivated and organized in their study approach. I have been tutoring for four years, in areas from the sciences to test prep to language arts.As a tutor, I prefer to individually tailor study plans to a student's needs, and am adaptable in both the pace and approach we take to learning the material. My goal is to eventually prepare each student to a level at which they can succeed independently in the future.

I am currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and I am double majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development and French. I am pre-med, so I do hope to go to medical school next year and am currently in the process of applying. I graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2012, and there I was a member of the National Honors Society which was my first experience with tutoring. I am currently a volunteer at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, and I help patients and siblings with homework and reading there, as well.I am passionate about the life sciences and the French language, and I love helping others foster a deeper understanding in these two particular subjects! I also genuinely enjoy algebra and statistics and am quite the grammarian. From preschool to college, I actually loved going to school every day and learning, and I hope to bring that love to others, also! I spent the fall of 2014 in Montpellier, France, and there I worked on mastering the French language. When I am not studying, you can find me doing a puzzle, baking, reading, going for a walk, or watching the Blackhawks and the White Sox.
