I absolutely love working with kids, and have since I was 12. I have baby sat, and tutored children ages 3 months up to 12 years old. I am looking to tutor in exchange for my current job as an assistant manager at a kid's gym. Although my job has been an incredible opportunity, I would love to gain more experience and knowledge in a more personal setting. I hope I can help you reach your goals as you are helping me reach mine. I am currently a college student hoping to one day become a teacher for school age children. I have been working with kids most of my life and it is truly my passion, and what I love to do.

In 2012, I graduated from New York University where I studied Dance and Psychology. After graduating, I performed internationally with a modern dance company. There I had the pleasure of teaching dance to a large range of ages and abilities. My experiences have varied from teaching Taiwanese school children to conducting workshops at Brown University. Throughout my education, I tutored students in a variety of academic disciplines. I am most passionate about psychology, statistics, and writing, and also enjoy helping students learn how to be better test takers. In my experience, preparing for Standardized Tests such as the SAT and ACT can be empowering. By ensuring that students master both the content and format of the test, they will be able to walk in on test day feeling calm and confident. My endeavors, domestic and abroad, have taught me to identify how a student best learns and help them approach conceptual roadblocks with creativity. I strongly believe in the importance of education. I consider it to be not only necessary to one's success, but also something that can be fun and extremely rewarding. When I'm not dancing or teaching, I love to read, visit museums, practice yoga, and watch independent films.

I am a graduate of North Park University. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education with a middle school endorsement in Social Science. I currently hold a Professional Educator License. During my time at North Park, I had the privilege of tutoring my peers in Statistics as well as elementary students in reading and writing. Being a teacher candidate allowed me the opportunity to teach various age groups and subjects areas including 3rd and 4th grade English, Literature, and Write, and 6th-8th grade Literature, Social Science, Mathematics, and Test Prep. While I have experience with a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Mathematics and Literature. Test Prep is also a wonderful time of expanding how students think and a great opportunity for encouragement and fun. I truly believe that helping students acquire the skills to be lifelong learners and helping them to see how education along with their personal interests makes them a valuable asset to society, is the foundation to great teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and trying new things, baking, singing, and reading.

I am from Munster, IN, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Duke University. During my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, watching basketball, and reading about basketball. You can also catch me trying to stay musically inclined, solving a Rubik's Cube, or playing board games. I am passionate about service in various forms, and I wish to pursue a career in medicine in the future. Throughout my academic years, I have engaged myself in varying instructional opportunities, from teaching younger students how to play the harmonium to guiding my peers through various academic subjects. My own academic challenges motivate me to be the most effective tutor I can be and help me guide my students through potential pitfalls along their academic journeys. I strive to create an environment where healthy interaction and communication are fostered, as I believe these are the crucial to the student experience. I tutor AP Psychology, MCAT Physical Sciences, MCAT Biological Sciences, and MCAT Social and Behavioral Sciences. I taught high school mathematics for five years in the Cincinnati area. I have always had a passion for teaching and for mathematics. I enjoy helping others find an appreciation for problem solving and finding multiple ways to get to an answer. I really like to focus on relating all material to something found in the student's life. This helps the material stick and is a good tool to use down the road.

Initially I enrolled at Baruch College to pursue studies in International Finance, later I transferred to the College of New Rochelle to complete my undergraduate studies with a focus in Sociology and English. Shortly after earning my BA at the College of New Rochelle, I was accepted into Hofstra University's graduate school of education to be professionally trained as an elementary grade teacher. I was searching for a rigorous graduate program and I found it! After earning my MSed at Hofstra, I immediately began teaching with great enthusiasm. What I enjoy most about teaching is learning to meet each student at their need, with their interests at heart. In life you build friendships, and as educators you learn to value the thoughts and ideals of your colleagues. My tutoring experience began with a little boy who was told he was stupid and slow by other students in class; they didn't know his father had passed away from cancer over the summer. He was my first student to tutor. He lost interest in learning because he felt no one showed interest in what he considered important. From then on, I make it my signature to ask each student before each session, "tell me about your day".It only takes a moment, but it has lasting meaning. I've tutored students from grades K-5 and always show gratitude to the parents for their efforts and commitments. My favorite subjects to tutor are English, Science and Social Studies. Learning the various parts of speech, how to improve spelling and build vocabulary while exploring the world of literature is fascinating with life-long rewards. Science opens a world of discovery, often encompassing math and opportunities to write extensively about what's learned or observed. Social Studies is our pathway to revisit history and events that have led up to where we are as a nation as a people sharing planet earth.I share John Dewey's theory "Children learn by doing and that Learning occurs through experience". Students often ask me, "what are we going to do today?" because each session is often different in approach or technique to keep students in engaged and excited about being life-long learners. Most importantly, I always remember to set an example by including myself as a pedagogue, I'm a life-long learner too.
