I have also managed a privately-owned business. I have always been passionate about tutoring. For example, I tutored math, calculus and physics in college, and I volunteered in educating seniors in computer skills. While in Johns Hopkins and Drexel University, I ended up teaching a lot of math and a bit of science not only as a tutor, but also as a teaching assistant and as a primary instructor. Since then, I've been working as a mathematician; I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Free University of Brussels for one year, and then as a research scientist at the Air Force Research Lab in Dayton, Ohio for two years. It's been a rewarding career, but I have missed teaching. When it comes to teaching, I try my best to take a flexible approach and meet students where they are. I am a big believer in the power of intuition and curiosity, so I try to teach in a way that nurtures both. I find that it is important not only to know how to get from problem statement to solution, but also to have some understanding of why the pieces fit together the way they do.
