Hello. I am a graduate of multiple STEM programs and have a passion for lifelong learning and helping others along the way. I first graduated with a B.Sc. Chemistry (minor Physics) from the University of Calgary where I also completed an M.Eng. in Geomatics Engineering focussing on digital signal processing of 2D remote sensing images as well as seismic geophysical data. I have also worked in the electronics field for two years having completed an electronics diploma at SAIT but was spurred on by interests in antenna radiation patterns that led me to a data processing positioning using InSAR technology later in life. I also graduated summa cum laude in civil engineering from the University of Ottawa with a minor in computing technology (management option) but also took options in biology and chemistry to go along with environmental engineering, fluid dynamics, statics, strength of materials and engineering math courses. I then went on to pursue a Masters in civil engineering at Carleton (in progress) where I am analyzing SAR data to detect ground movement above aquifers but also gained an outstanding teaching assistant nomination at the same time while completing a certificate in teaching methods specifically related to how students are motivated to learn in online environments. I worked six semesters as a teaching assistant and consider it to be the most rewarding employment that I have been involved with; I love helping students learn and make the most of their education while balancing all of life's busy requirements. All that is to say that I am dedicated to understanding the student from many different backgrounds and learning styles and helping them on their journey seeing them succeed.

I strongly believe that the purpose of education is not to bombard students with information but to equip them with the skills they need to start thinking independently. Having been a teacher for the past 5 years, I have focused on helping my students develop core concepts by explaining and following up with practice questions. In the past I have taught Mathematics, Statistics, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

I have been coaching students to their best performance in math for seven years. I am fluent in all levels of math, primary, secondary, and freshman/sophomore university level. I double majored in Applied Mathematics & Statistics and Biomedical Engineering. I love teaching Physics, and I have extensive experience tutoring Discrete Math and Real Analysis. I also served as a teaching fellow at Johns Hopkins University in Probability and Statistics, and later at Harvard University in Stochastic Processes. In addition, I completed a variety of foundational and applied computer science courses in college and applied these skills in various projects. I have been fluent in Java, and today I primarily use Python and R for my research projects. While most of my teaching experience is at the college level, I also enjoy working with high school students, whether in standard, honors, or AP- or IB-level courses.

At Carleton, I played Varsity Soccer, hosted a radio show, and served as an economics prefect/TA for introductory microeconomics classes. In this role, I both held classroom sessions and tutored students individually. It was rewarding to see the results of my efforts and the impact I could have on other students. I am at an expert level in many math and economics areas. The key to my process is helping you not just 'get the answer' but also understanding the process of how to get there. I want to help students of all ages and make them think and have fun while learning.

I am a PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, holding both bachelor's and master's degrees in the same field from Cairo University, Egypt. My passion for teaching began at home, helping my three younger siblings understand challenging math and science topics. This early experience sparked a lifelong interest in education, which I continued to pursue as a teaching assistant at the University of Pittsburgh for two years. I've worked with students at different levels and backgrounds, and I enjoy tutoring subjects like math, physics, engineering mechanics, and civil engineering courses. I also have experience teaching engineering software. What I enjoy most is helping students understand difficult concepts by breaking them down into simple, manageable steps.
