I am still asked by my friends to help them with their math and chemistry homework. I get calls from home asking if I can get on Skype to explain something, and I am always happy to oblige. I understand that my education is a privilege, and I want to do my part to help every person have the same opportunities that I had.

My interest in tutoring began in middle school when I started taking online math classes for more enrichment and exposure. In high school, I founded Mu Alpha Theta and ran it all four years of high school. I love teaching students in all aspects of math and science.

I am a current law student at Washington University in St. Louis and also graduated summa cum laude from their undergraduate program in 2014. I have dual citizenship with the US and Chile, and my hispanic roots have always been very important to me. I grew up speaking Spanish but have also dedicated a significant portion of my academic studies to Spanish language and literature as well. I am passionate about helping others reach their goals and take pride in helping make the Spanish language and various Spanish-speaking cultures more accessible to anyone willing to learn.

I am dedicated to helping both struggling and thriving students excel in the subject in question. While I will work closely with my tutees, I will never just tell them how to answer a problem. Making sure the student is able to solve the problem on his own and understand why this method of solution works is how the subjects can be mastered. I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

I'm a second-year student at Rice University majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology as well as in English. My unusual double major is a result of my inability to choose a favorite subject--I love literature and science! This love of learning translates naturally to my role as a tutor. Because I love learning, I look for ways to transmit my passions to others by teaching them. Another reason I enjoy tutoring lies in my own experience as a student. I had to work very hard for the grades it took to get to college, so I understand the problems of the struggling student, and I try my best to relate the methods I personally used to overcome those obstacles. During my time at NU, I spent a semester at Madrid's top-ranked university, taking upper-level history and literature courses with Spanish students. I now work at a trade magazine in Midtown covering real estate.

I am a rising sophomore majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Data Science at Rice University in Houston, TX. Naturally, my favorite subjects to teach are math and computer science, particularly programming languages like Python, Java, and Scratch. I have found great enrichment in these seemingly daunting areas, and I hope to make them more easily accessible for others. As a founding member of the Ready for College Leadership club (RCL), I mentored high school freshmen and sophomores to help them succeed in high school and prepare for college admissions, while also providing academic aid. The best part of working with students is watching them grow not just as a learner, but also as a thinker. I always encourage students to be curious and let their true interests be incorporated into lessons. In my spare time, I love learning languages; I am a heritage Spanish speaker and a self-taught Portuguese speaker. I also enjoy playing guitar and practicing new songs to sing.

I am a Communications Major with a penchant for reading, writing, some math, and film! (I picked up a Cinema Studies Minor as well) I used to be an editor in a few newspapers, so I love working with others to improve their writing skills. I have tutored many areas in both high school and college and have coached softball to girls of many ages. I especially love helping students master their test-taking skills, because I understand what it was like having to navigate such a high pressure environment! Providing just a few tools can make a world of difference.
