Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student spent the entire session making graphs from data that she was given as homework. She completed the homework using sigmaplot to make the remaining scatter plots and histograms. A variety of graphs were made for each answer, so she had a choice about which one she could turn in."
"The student spent the session completing his homework. He was relatively focused and managed to get through quite a lot without taking breaks. If he has a chance he should study a bit more for his English quiz, but we did cover most of the basic material he will need to do well."
"The student studied for her test today. She completed the review, and then I had her do some extra practice over the concepts she struggled with. She had a little trouble remembering what to do, but picked it back up quickly. Repetition is the key for her. We also need to make sure that she understands what the directions are asking her to do so that she can interpret that for herself on the test. She went to take the test right after our session and feels like she did very well!"
"The student told me that he has been feeling much more confident in his class and that math is no longer his least favorite class in school. We practiced more midpoint and distance formulas as well as translation, reflection, and rotation. Towards the end of the session, we reviewed setting up area/perimeter equations using unknown variables. I recommended that he be more careful when identifying and combining like terms. Overall, his progress has been amazing, and it's a pleasure to work with him."
"The student took an exam today and had success in the multiple-choice section. She felt less confident in the free-response portion, and we will review them when she gets the exam back. Today we reviewed synthetic and long division of polynomials and the different forms of functions at points and their slopes, tangent, and normal lines using limits."
"The student took his quiz this past week on slope-intercept form. He got a score of 14 out of 15. He had homework involving solving systems of equations by graphing. He did his homework and understood the material very well. He learned about adjacent, vertical, complementary and supplementary angles. I gave him practice problems that he handled very well. He had a very good attitude toward the material that was reviewed."
