How can a Geometry tutor help you?

Most high schools across the United States require a geometry class for graduation. Because of the diverse number of topics these courses may cover, it is easy for students to get lost in the subject and struggle to keep up with the class. Students are required to think visually for geometry more than they typically are in their previous courses. While this helps some students excel, others may quickly get left behind when transforming or translating shapes. The huge amount of terminology may trouble students who have difficulty with new vocabulary. Perpendicular bisectors may be confusing, and students struggle to remember how to find the dimensions of various polygons. A personal tutor may try to help your budding mathematician get back on the right track and learn to love math again as they push ahead of the class.

The right tutor may be hard to find. Thankfully, the educational directors at Varsity Tutors are experienced in finding the perfect geometry tutor for your child in Kansas City, MO. We may take into account every factor that may impact your student's learning when selecting a tutor. We may want to know about your child's personality, preferred learning style, and topics of struggle. From there, a geometry tutor may meet your student in Kansas City and may likely want to do some simple diagnostics to see if there are any problematic gaps in your child's mathematical skills. If gaps are found, they may be immediately corrected with help from the tutor. Next, they may dive into geometry, covering what the student needs to know most. Time may not be wasted on information the student already knows and doesn't need to review.

Geometry Tutoring review by Khrishen in Kansas City, MO
In the last session with the student, we worked on her geometry/algebra homework. We specifically reviewed root rules mainly how to rationalize the denominator. She needed some guidance at the beginning of the session but then easily worked through the rest of her homework.

Geometry Tutoring review by Beth in Kansas City, MO
In our first session, we made a plan to cover the 6 chapters that will be on her final exam. In this session, we covered chapters 5 and 6 on relationships within triangles and quadrilaterals. We did this by going through some problems in the book, as well as reviewing past quizzes and exams. Together we were able to solve all of the problems she missed on her past assessments and take notes on certain concepts that needed to be reviewed. We covered: indirect proofs, bisectors, medians, altitudes, points of congruency, inverse, converse, contrapositive, the triangle inequality, how to identify a parallelogram, squares, rhombi and rectangles. The student will do the chapter reviews for homework to review these concepts further. Great job!

Geometry Tutoring review by Samuel in Kansas City, MO
We went over another exam and I helped the student with the questions she was unable to solve. She now is about to study some circle concepts and will soon know the basic methods to solve all the topics the exam covers. She did very well on the practice exam.

Geometry Tutoring review by Joseph in Kansas City, MO
The student and I worked on a review for his exam over volume and surface area of 3-Dimensional figures. The test included the basics of finding surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones and spheres. Along with finding those measurements, the exam has a focus on using similarity and dimensional change to find surface area and volume of the above figures. There were a few application problems which encompassed all of the learning in the section. We actually took the exam review and I graded it with him. By the way I graded, he got a 55%. We went through his mistakes and we found that they were procedural in the aspect of computation and using incorrect formulas. I felt like this was one of the best sessions that we had. He texted me a few days later saying that he received 100% on the exam, which makes me very proud of him.
