I have an undergraduate degree from Brown University where I double majored in International Relations and History of Art and Architecture. I also have a certification in teaching English as a foreign language. My favorite subjects to tutor are Russian, Japanese, and English, but I also am available to tutor in math (elementary to calculus), science, and SAT/ACT/AP prep. I have over ten years of experience in both in-person and online tutoring, and I am passionate about helping students reach their academic and personal goals. My degrees include a BS in Healthcare Administration and Psychology, and an AS degree in Architectural Technology. I am also completely my Masters in Instructional design, specifically related to accessibility for online learning. As an avid learner and adventurer, I love sharing my knowledge with children, teens and adults alike. Teaching, to me, is about learning how my student learns, understanding their strengths and challenges, and adapting my skills for their best outcomes, in a way that is both fun and comprehensive. I have worked in several countries and three continents teaching English as a second language. I am fluent in French through study and immersion in France, and I love sharing the language and culture with my students, whether for school or because they want to travel. I am certified as an ESL (English as Second Language) teacher and Enseignant de franais langue trangre (FLE) to teach French as a foreign language. I have developed an evidence-based program that is engaging and interactive with which I have successfully taught several teens and adults conversational French, grammar and translation. I volunteer as an advocate for individuals with neurodiverse challenges and mental health needs, and in my spare time I enjoy art, cooking, photography, and walking.

I firmly believe that the vast majority of students who believe they are "bad at math" have tragically internalized this identity without true justification. I have personally seen students of mine shed that persona and it is a special thing to witness.

I like helping students. I am very patient. I have experience teaching Calculus classes at the University of Miami. I have done private tutoring for all levels of math up to Calculus, as well as Statistics, Business Math, and Math Finance. I have worked in the actuarial field. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Michigan State University and a Master's degree in mathematics from the University of Miami. I worked for The Princeton Review as a tutor for the SAT. I did very well on both the SAT and ACT, and like teaching students how to do better on those. I like history, too, and always find it fun to tutor history.

By that same token, if a student can't explain a concept back to me, then they don't understand it even if they say they do. I obtained my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and I now work as a Lecturer for the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, School of Mathematics. I also obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts degree from Rhode Island College (RIC) and have worked as a Math Tutor and Teacher's Assistant throughout my time at RIC. Intellectually, I believe knowledge is fluid and requires practice to perfect. I enjoy showing my peers/students different ways of examining problems in order to achieve a well-rounded understanding of the material through derivation, never memorization. My main mission is to showcase my passion for Math and hopefully encourage students to see the beauty and wonder of this phenomenal subject.
