I tutored a little philosophy as I liked it and was good at it. I think I may have helped someone with maths as I could do that to. I did also teach groups of children activities at a Summer Camp: like basic canoeing and how to boondoggle.Back in the early 2000s, I did help grade ISTEP one year. In 2003, I was adjunct faculty in IUPUI's Philosophy Dept. In 2006, I taught two creative writing workshops through Continuing Education. In 2012, I taught advanced intermediate English (TEFL, uncertified) to 3 adults in Germany.I love helping people learn and to share a natural enthusiasm. I have received most of my own second language education from KVHS: German language learning for adults living in Germany as foreigners or immigrants. I believe this gives me especial insight into second language learning.

A graduate of Bucknell University, I have studied both English and Business Management as an undergraduate and worked on Wall Street before discovering a love of teaching.I call upon both my humanities and math sides in tutoring for all sections of the SAT and ACT. My SAT and ACT students have been admitted to colleges including Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and Hamilton.I also have abundant experience working with younger students for private school entrance exams and my ISEE, HSPT and SSAT students have been accepted into the independent schools of their choice. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching with UMUC. I have attained my education while working as a Federal government employee with the United States Postal Service and the Department of Health and Human Services having recently retired from government service. During my federal career, I have volunteered with the DC public school system as a reading mentor in the Everybody Wins! program and served as a parent volunteer during my daughter's K-12 years. I am currently a volunteer teacher at the Academy of Hope in Washington, DC teaching 'Reading and Work Life Skills' to adult learners who are taking courses toward attaining their General Education Diploma. Teaching has always been a passion and now I am able to pursue this goal as a retiree. Through my volunteer activities and now through my studies in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program, I value the hard task that teachers must perform each day but the reward at the end of the day is watching and seeing how learning has a positive effect on students. 'Each one teach one' is a part of who I am and through teaching I am able to have a positive impact on the future of tomorrow's leaders. In my spare time, I love to read and watch TV mysteries, walking just for the sheer joy of being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

I am a recent medical school graduate. I have many years of experience tutoring though out undergrad and Medical school. I love tutoring chemistry, biochemistry, math, and biology. I tend to use more of a conceptual approach to learning rather than rote memorization. I recently retired from a 37-year career in aerospace at Lockheed Martin. I was an engineer and have an Electrical Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech. Many years ago, when I was a student in high school and college my favorite subject was math. The main reason I enjoyed math so much was because my father was also an engineer (Graduate of the Coast Guard Academy) and very passionate about math, and he spent a lot of time with me solving math problems. He made math seem fun! During my career at Lockheed Martin, I always enjoyed mentoring and training new hires. Over the years, I've found that I enjoy teaching and I have a lot of patience explaining technical concepts. I have been complimented many times by my former colleagues about my excellent teaching skills. Now that I'm retired and have the time to teach, I am excited about finding creative ways to make math fun for my students. To me, solving math problems and solving puzzles are synonymous. In addition to math, I'm also interested in teaching basic computer programming concepts and the game of chess. Let's make math fun again!

I studied mathematics during undergrad and fell in love with using logic and numbers to sift through the world.I then went on to obtain two masters degrees in economics. I love economics because it is a smart combination of statistical rigor and humanity.I also was an economics Ph.D. student in University of California, Davis studying theoretical microeconomics and econometrics for 3 years before I dropped out in 2019.I realized that what I love the most is applying knowledge to solve real world problems and help other people understand things.I still love economics but I am much more into applying statistics, econometrics, and programming to solve real problems.I fell in love with teaching during my Ph.D. years. I love to see how students can really understand things if they find the right way -- the right people or the right recourses -- to learn from. I want to be students' right kind of way to learn!I strive to try my best to use what I know to help students solve problems and understand things with more clarity.I firmly believe that seeing things from different perspectives is the fastest way to gain real understanding.

I am a current student at Duke University School of Medicine pursuing my MHS degree in Physician Assistant studies. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care with which I practiced as a Respiratory Therapist with focus in Adult critical Care. I have several certifications and I am a certified clinical simulations instructor. While I tutor a broad range of courses, I am passionate about Algebra, biology, anatomy & physiology, Medical terminology, medicine, ACLS, BLS,NRP, Respiratory board exams prep and pharmacology.Assisting students through tutoring is a desire of mine.
