With a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Texas A&M-Central Texas, I am entering my 20th year in education. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of working as an elementary classroom teacher, elementary school counselor, and Special Programs Counselor. This broad experience has given me valuable insights into the academic and emotional needs of students at all stages of development. I have extensive experience meeting the needs of students in Special Education, 504, Gifted and Talented, and English as a Second Language programs. This has helped me to adapt my teaching strategies to support a diverse range of learning styles and ensure that each student receives the personalized attention they need to succeed. My tutoring experience spans PK-12th grade, focusing on subjects such as reading, phonics, writing, and math, with additional expertise in SAT/ACT prep for reading and writing. I believe that forming a strong, trusting relationship with my students is essential to fostering an effective learning environment. By meeting students where they are and building on their individual strengths, I aim to help them not only improve academically but also gain confidence in their abilities. As a tutor, my goal is to guide each student toward their academic goals in a way that feels personal, supportive, and achievable. Whether we're reinforcing foundational skills in early education or preparing for college entrance exams, I am committed to helping you reach your desired outcomes. If you're looking for a tutor who is experienced, compassionate, and dedicated to meeting your unique needs, I would be honored to work with you to help you get where you need and want to be!
I am a graduate of Loyola University's Master's Program in Mental Health Counseling, and I have a strong foundation in sociological theory from my undergraduate studies. I specialize in helping students with literature, academic writing, and complex concepts in philosophy, sociology, and counseling. Earlier this year, I passed the NCE and am now offering tutoring for individuals preparing for licensure. One of my primary career interests is coaching high school and college students through academic stress using a strengths-based approach that builds confidence and promotes long-term success. My goal is to make the kind of academic support I once relied on more accessible through flexible virtual sessions. In my free time, I enjoy taking walks in the park, exploring farmers markets, and relaxing in local cafes.
As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive, inclusive, and confidence-building environment where every student feels empowered to succeed. With over 15 years of experience in counseling, academic advising, and career coaching, I bring a deep understanding of how students learn bestespecially those with ADHD, learning differences, or anxiety around performance. I hold a master's degree in mental health counseling and have worked extensively with students navigating both academic and personal challenges. Whether I'm breaking down complex concepts, helping with executive functioning skills, or celebrating small wins along the way, I believe in meeting students where they are and guiding them with patience, humor, and practical strategies. I specialize in working with high school and college students on writing, organization, time management, and college or career prep. I'm especially passionate about helping students find their voice, believe in their abilities, and gain the confidence to tackle what's nextwhether it's an upcoming test or a long-term goal.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I am a graduate of Washington University in St Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Humanities and Anthropology. Since graduation, I have worked as a tutor, teacher, and director of tutors at a charter public middle school in Boston. During this time I also received my Masters in Mild to Moderate Disabilities from Simmons College. I have worked extensively with students with a range of abilities, including students with specific learning disabilities, emotional impairments, dyslexia, and ADHD. My teaching experience has given me a deep understanding of the knowledge and habits essential to academic success and has given me the opportunity to hone a variety of strategies that ensure students at each level can achieve their academic goals. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones are Reading, Elementary/Middle School Math, History, and Test Prep. In my experience, tutoring is the most rewarding when a student has that "aha!" moment and achieves a new level of understanding and confidence in his/her abilities. I am a firm believer in the transformative power of education, and I see my role to be that of a facilitator and coach who is there to help the student reach his/her goals through individualized support and rigorous practice. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, practicing my Spanish, and discovering new music. I am also an avid traveler and just got back from a 3 month trip to South America. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

Frequently Asked Questions
CPCE builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills that apply across academics and careers. A strong foundation in CPCE opens doors to advanced coursework and prepares students for standardized tests.
Many students find that success in CPCE boosts their confidence in related subjects too.
Common challenges include gaps from earlier material, difficulty with specific concepts, and trouble applying what's learned to new problems. These issues compound quickly in CPCE because topics build on each other.
A tutor identifies exactly where you're stuck, fills in gaps, and gives you targeted practice until the concepts click. That 1-on-1 attention makes a big difference.
Look for someone with strong CPCE knowledge who can explain concepts in multiple ways until you understand. Patience and the ability to adapt to your learning style matter as much as expertise.
Varsity Tutors vets all tutors through background checks, credential review, and teaching evaluation—so you can focus on finding the right personality and teaching approach fit.
For students who are struggling, stuck, or want to excel, tutoring often pays off in better grades, stronger test scores, and reduced stress. The 1-on-1 format lets you move at your own pace and focus on what you actually need.
Many students also develop better study habits that serve them in other subjects.
Most students benefit from 1-2 sessions per week. If you're significantly behind or have a major exam coming up, more frequent sessions can help you catch up faster.
