Advanced 4th Grade English Language Arts Class

Fourth-graders make a dramatic leap in their writing ability, learning to write structured essays that support claims with evidence and progress logically to a thesis or conclusion. In this class, students will also learn to vary their writing with modifying phrases and nuanced word choice, selecting between similar words to convey the precisely intended meaning. As readers, students will develop a keen eye for text structures and an author’s use of evidence to support claims, becoming more critical readers as they develop these skills in their own writing. Class will meet five times per week for 40 minute sessions. This class is meant for advanced students and is part of our School@Home Program.
