7th Grade's Most Misunderstood: Algebraic Thinking

Grade 7

Approximately half of incoming 7th graders demonstrate shaky fundamentals in algebra, particularly with writing equations and inequalities, solving for variables, and applying techniques like the distributive property. As algebra is the foundation for a great many skills to come in future grades, it is critical that students feel comfortable with these underpinnings of algebraic thinking, and this class will ensure that students develop algebraic fluency.

  • The Varsity Tutors Learning Lab leverages artificial intelligence to serve adaptive diagnostic assessments and create customized learning plans for each student. With tens of thousands of student responses, the Learning Lab also offers deep insights into the skills that are most critical to success in future grades, and into the skills that most often hold students back from that success. The Most Misunderstood series uses that data to ensure that learners solidify the skills most likely to otherwise stand in their way.
