Today, we covered area between two curves. I went over the student's homework. She was able to go through the homework with minimal assistance. After the 6 problems of homework, we worked through the area problems under the practice problems sets. These were much harder than the homework problems so she needed some explanation, but after she understood the concept, she was able to find the area.

In this session, the student and I worked on simple algebraic equations with one solution, infinite solutions, and no solutions. He felt confident about this material, and could answer some deeper questions about it, and apply the concepts to novel problems. We spent part of the session discussing how he has organized his binders, how he uses his planner, and we talked about what he thinks his teacher's expectations are for him. Wherever possible, I embed reminders to use good study skills. For example, today I asked him to use scratch paper for his homework, and practice showing all of his work, instead of trying to cram all the work and answers into small spaces on his worksheet.
