She struggled a bit with limits so we will continue to review it more. We also worked through derivatives of trig functions and inverse functions. The student and I had a very productive session. We discussed imaginary numbers and figured out the pattern as you increase the exponent. We looked at a word problem she had in her notes and resolved the issue. We then did her homework assignment where we were looking at the difference of two squares, and other quick ways to multiply polynomials. We then went down the list of each concept that will be covered on her quiz and did some problems from each section.

I did review the 9 step process for action potential and go over the labeled diagram - both of which he seemed to have a good grasp on. The student and I worked on finding the area of skewed squares. She had a procedure, but did not know why it worked. We broke down the shape, and looked for patterns. She quickly saw that we did not have to calculate the area of each right triangle individually, since we would be dividing by two and then multiplying by 4. We created a table to organize data showing the dimensions of the triangles and the area of the shape. Extrapolating from this, she developed a formula that we could use for finding the area of any square, no matter the dimensions of the outside triangles. Using this formula, she was able to mathematically prove why the area of a^2 and b^2 gave c^2.
