I am from the Midwest, born in the suburbs of Chicago, but also lived in Missouri and Oklahoma for some time. My interest in mathematics was first peeked in adolescence. As a middle school student, I thought patterns were amazing and spent many hours on different numerical patterns and sequences trying to find the next number. I enjoyed working with puzzles like sudoku, pascal's triangle and calculating the nth term of Fibonacci. I later took an intro to number theory class where we spent some time working with elementary cryptology, and relationships within math. I was homeschooled, until attending and receiving two Associate degrees from Missouri State University. After Graduation, I worked for MSU-WP in the math department as a Teaching Assistant and Supplemental Instructor. I completed a BS from Indiana University East online well employed at MSU-WP. While studying math, I loved finding the "lightbulb ah-ha moments" after searching for a solution for hours, or finding problem causing errors in my proof. It was like solving a puzzle and came with great satisfaction when all the pieces finally fit together. In the tutoring Lab, I worked with thousands of students and got to share those ah-ha moments with them. I was able to relate to them and their struggles, thereby helping many overcome their own obstacles in life. Teaching and tutoring most importantly gave me the opportunity to get know students, come alongside them, and help them be successful in their pursuits, as my teachers have done for me. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in mathematics.

I'm a recent college graduate from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. I am a passionate and approachable tutor who's here to help students succeed both academically and confidently. Helping students overcome academic challenges is something I find incredibly fulfilling. As someone who understands the pressures of school firsthand, I love showing students that they're more capable than they thinkand helping them build the confidence to succeed. I've worked with students from elementary to high school, providing support in subjects like math, English, science, and even chess. My tutoring journey began informally by helping classmates, and it quickly grew into something I genuinely enjoy doing. I've conducted one-on-one sessions, group tutoring, and mock interviewseach experience has taught me how to connect with different learning styles and personalities. The subjects I tutor include math, English, science, and chess. Among these, I especially enjoy tutoring math and chess. Math gives students a logical toolkit they can use in nearly every part of life, and chess strengthens patience, focus, and strategy in a way that's both fun and mentally rewarding. My teaching philosophy is rooted in adaptability and encouragement. I believe that every student learns differently, and my role is to meet them where they are. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps, use real-world examples, and check in frequently to make sure students are truly grasping the materialnot just memorizing it. I'm here to make learning clear, engaging, and personalizedbecause I believe that with the right support, any student can thrive.
I recently graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine. I am going to be starting surgical residency in the next few months. Prior to medical school, I attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.I have always enjoyed helping students, especially because I know how difficult school can be. I have had the pleasure of tutoring many students in the past, ranging from college-athletes to other medical students. I have taught various different engineering courses, premed courses, Step 1, and Step 2. Honestly, my favorite subject I have taught so far has to be Step 2.Outside of tutoring, I love working out, playing tennis, listening to Bad Bunny, and hanging out with friends!
Hi, I'm Brittney! I earned my B.S. in Mathematics from Indiana University, and I've always loved what math representspatterns, logic, and creative problem solving. I've tutored for over four years and also spent eight years homeschooling my own children, which gave me a deep understanding of how to adapt lessons for a wide range of learning styles and grade levels. I specialize in test prep (especially SAT Math, ASVAB, and AP Calculus), and I love helping students break through mental blocks and realize they can do hard things. As a student myself, I thrived on academic competition. I scored in the 99th percentile on the ASVAB, earned a 1420 on the SAT with a 750 in Math (top 2%), and was a National Merit Semifinalist with a 2280 PSAT. In 2022, I placed 1st in the Southwest region of the AMATYC Student Mathematics League. But my proudest moments have come as a tutor: I've helped high schoolers boost their SAT Math scores by 100+ points, AP students go from a 2 to a 5, and future service members raise their ASVAB scores from the 50s into the 70squalifying for specialized jobs and enlistment options they didn't think were possible. I always start with diagnostic testing and goal setting, so we can identify the right focus areas. Then I tailor each session with clear explanations, guided practice, and strategy coachingespecially for test-taking. I aim to make math feel less intimidating and more like a puzzle we're solving together. I also love tying math concepts to real-world applications or students' interests, whether that's video games, budgeting, or architecture. My goal is to make learning engaging, empowering, and productive. I welcome input from both students and parents and always provide quick responses to messages. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up your first sessionI'd be honored to support your learning journey!
I have been helping people buy and sell homes for 12 years. Prior to that, I was in sales and marketing for 22 years with a large international company. Additionally, I have been a Registered Nurse for 40 years. While I maintain my nursing license, my primary career is in Real Estate. I helped start up a real estate school, and I taught the material for the National Real Estate Exam and the Missouri Real Estate Exam there for 2 years. I love learning and considered a career in teaching. Tutoring provides me with the best of both worlds. I am passionate about helping those who want a career in real estate achieve that goal. My style is informal, interactive, and I use a lot of different resources to help my students understand the material, such as handouts, graphs, charts, diagrams, personal examples, etc. My goal is to have my students understand the concepts and laws of real estate, not just memorize the information in order to pass the test. The most successful Realtors are those who can adapt to each client's individual needs. You will need a well-rounded understanding of how the real estate market works because each client and every transaction is unique. The rest of my time is spent with my 5 adult children and 2 grandbabies.
My name is Alisha Rivera Aquino. I am a recent college graduate with a BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a minor in Spanish. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I am a native Spanish speaker who grew up learning first Spanish, then English, and then both at the same time. I would be a great tutor for any student because of my ability to provide cultural context to my teaching, as well as accurate Spanish-speaking skills that are not learned from a textbook. Overall, my goal with all of my students is to make sure that they can learn at their own pace, and learn as much as they can about different Latinx cultures and the language itself.
I love helping students connect to the material they find challenging. I started working with students in 2019 when I began working as a substitute teacher in a local K-12 school system. My teaching philosophy is to create a student-centered learning environment, and I focus on active learning.I have a bachelor's degree in journalism with an outside concentration in English from Indiana University Bloomington. In 2009, I earned my master of arts degree from Indiana University Bloomington in journalism research. From 2019-2021, I studied elementary education with a concentration on ESL at Marian University, and I earned 40 credits toward the degree, including. Currently, I am studying strategic human resources at the University of Denver. When I'm not tutoring, you can find me studying, baking, or reading for fun. I live with my husband of 13 years, and our two cats, Yoshi and Nerf. I love going to the zoo, and recently I had a private session with a sloth. I'm looking forward to my next adventure with an aardvark or perhaps an elephant.

Let's make learning quick, painless, and memorable. I love finding shortcuts and fun ways to help you remember those down right tricky things in school. I have several years of teaching struggling students who really just didn't love school because let's face it, it's not always fun and sometimes it's hard. I can't wait to lighten your load and make learning easier on you.
Servus, Grezi, und Hallo German Language Friends! My name is Pat and whether you're just starting out with words you've learned from movies and menus or you've carried around a Langenscheidt so long that the cover has worn away, I can help you to systematically improve your German Language comprehension and performance. As a student of the language since I was a wee tween back in 2000, I have since lived, long-term, in three different major German cities on my own initiative. That means that not only do I understand how to navigate the ins-and-outs of the oft dreaded German Bureaucracy (from both a Student's and a Worker's perspective) but I can teach you to understand and adapt to regional dialects so that you have Bmmel when choosing to say Brtchen or Semmel.Whether you're looking to navigate well the precision of various scholarly works in the original, whether you're simply keen on making sure that your vacation to the Black Forest or Berlin goes off without a hitch, or whether you're just looking to score well on the German AP exam, I am your tutor. In any case,I enjoy teaching this language so much because of all the adventures it's enabled me to have.*What do you say, we get started on some of yours?*Getting a 5/5 on the AP exam also frees up 15 or more credit hours in courses that you test out of, depending on the University and their policies. That's about an entire semester of classes you can spend on graduating early (as I did) or focusing on any number of other interests.
I recently earned my B.S. in Spanish at Indiana University. I have been a virtual tutor for four years, specializing in elementary literacy skills. My teaching philosophy centers around creating a fun and welcoming environment where students feel safe to take risks, try their best, and learn from their mistakes. I have always loved reading and writing, and I can't wait to share that passion with your learner!
It has been clear since I was a high school student, if not before, that teaching was my calling, not just my future job. No matter what field of study caught my interest -- math, law, humanities, language -- I always imagined myself teaching it. My curiosity about life, my love of students of all ages, and my passionate belief that all of us are learners and people of value have opened the door to widely varied teaching and learning opportunities and make me both prepared and eager to work with students in almost any age group, needing support in almost any subject area. I can't wait to help any Varsity Tutors students who come my way!
