I love helping students connect to the material they find challenging. I started working with students in 2019 when I began working as a substitute teacher in a local K-12 school system. Later, I worked as a kindergarten behavior assistant/instructional assistant. I first began tutoring students when I was a junior in high school, and I have taught a college-level newspaper reporting class. My teaching philosophy is to create a student-centered learning environment, and I focus on active learning. I have a bachelor's degree in journalism with an outside concentration in English from Indiana University Bloomington. In 2009, I earned my master of arts degree from Indiana University Bloomington in journalism research. From 2019-2021, I studied elementary education with a concentration on ESL at Marian University, and I earned 40 credits toward the degree, including. Currently, I am studying strategic human resources at the University of Denver. When I'm not tutoring, you can find me studying, baking, or reading for fun. I live with my husband of 13 years, and our two cats, Yoshi and Nerf. I love going to the zoo, and recently I had a private session with a sloth. I'm looking forward to my next adventure with an aardvark or perhaps an elephant.
