About Me

As a teacher, my understanding of the Humanistic Approach to psychology has enhanced my appreciation for the inherent goodness and potential within each of my students. This approach placing a strong emphasis on personal growth, self-actualization, and the unique experiences of individuals. I believe that every student possesses the capacity for rational thought and the ability to face challenges successfully. In my classroom, I strive to create a supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable exploring concepts that they once feared while expressing themselves openly. I find it empowering to encourage my students to actively engage in their learning processes, focusing on their strengths and abilities. I aim to help my students reach their full potential. Currently, I teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry in our corporation's alternative school, alongside two sections of Geometry at our high school. With two Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Elementary Education (with a concentration in math), as well as a Master's degree in Secondary Education focused on math, I bring over 23 years of teaching experience and over 20 years of tutoring experience. My teaching career includes teaching 7th and 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. My tutoring spans a wide range of subjects, including math courses from 7th grade through College Algebra and Trigonometry, Chemistry, writing, SAT/ACT prep, college planning, social skills, emotional skills, and study skills. Currently, I am also finishing a Master's in Psychology, where I delve into adolescent behavior and brain development, particularly how trauma influences decision-making and coping strategies.
