Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I worked on functions, limits, and continuity. We went over how to do operations between functions, such as taking the sum of two functions, the difference of two functions, the product of two functions, and the quotient of two functions. We went over how to take the composition of two functions as well. We went over how to take limits of functions. We worked through several examples of taking limits, including limits at infinity. Lastly, we went over how to check whether a function is continuous at a point and determining where a function was discontinuous. We will meet again tomorrow."
"Today, we completed free response questions. The student did very well with function and derivative work, but she needs to review separation of variables. Then, we began the teacher's review packet and went over all of the derivative and limit problems."
"Today, we continued working through the last of the student's homework for the class, covering optimization problems for the majority, including some very difficult ones involving a lot of steps and a lot of geometry. We spent the rest of the time looking at some problems and applications of the mean value theorem."
"We covered the topics that are going to be on the student's midterm test. We reviewed fractions (multiplying), negatives, and associative property of addition. She is very strong with her concepts. She just needs to remember some basic points (even number of negative signs = positive, etc.) and to make sure she takes her time to get the calculations themselves correct. We will go over any new concepts or needed review on Tuesday."
"We did a lot of review for the final exam. We went over the packet and targeted strategies that the student would easily remember for the final exam. His English and understanding of how to approach problems has improved greatly since the last time we have met."
"We got a lot done today! We reviewed the student's math assignment, studied for science and vocabulary, and even outlined a project. She was very prepared for her science test and is weeks ahead on her English projects."
