How can a Physics tutor help you?

Physics studies the nature and properties of matter and energy. It is distinguished from biology and chemistry by its emphasis on mechanics, radiation, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms. If you are interested in physics, but are currently having a difficult time in your physics course, you should connect with a private tutor. Varsity Tutors' educational directors can help you locate an independent tutor in Olathe who could potentially help with understanding physics.

We will find you a skilled physics tutor in Olathe, KS, who will work to try to give the knowledge you need to thoroughly understand physics. Physics can be a tricky course to understand because it involves a number of complicated and complex topics. Some of these include thermodynamics, torque, balanced forces, wave interference, and elastic collisions. Physics also tends to involve a great deal of math, which can be intimidating and overwhelming for some students. Any subject that deals with math on a regular basis lends itself to needing an above average attention to detail. One minor miscalculation can completely throw off hours of work, which can be very stressful and frustrating. Working with a private physics tutor could help alleviate some of this pressure because they will be there for you to offer advice and encouragement throughout the duration of your physics course. When you do inevitably make a mistake, they will be there to offer immediate feedback. And rather than just giving you the correct answer, they will explain the process of how they arrived at the answer so that you can replicate it on subsequent problems.

Session Summaries by Physics Tutors

Physics Tutoring review by David in Olathe, KS
We did several homework problems from the textbook that involved the basic equations for waves -- their speed of propagation in various materials, their wavelengths, frequencies, periods. We graphically diagrammed the superposition of waves. I saw a grade report indicating an 88 on his most recent test. I think he has benefited by having more time to study recently, by having step by step learned how to study physics, and by doing extra practice problems. I did not leave any specifically though he has a study guide and a textbook for the purpose. No concerns.

Physics Tutoring review by Aaditya in Olathe, KS
We reviewed what we covered in the last tutoring session. We also covered new topics such as definition of resistance, resistivity, Ohm's law, electrical power, and circuit diagrams. She has an exam next week and we will be reviewing for that exam in detail during the next tutoring session.

Physics Tutoring review by Steven in Olathe, KS
The questions the student has relate mainly to articles he is reading covering biophysics. What he is getting the most help with is understanding the physics concepts (such as piezoelectricity, band structure, and quantum mechanics) that come up in the articles. Those topics tend to be wide-ranging and very interesting to discuss and try to figure out. All things considered, we are making good progress in each session.

Physics Tutoring review by Richard in Olathe, KS
The student has a test on Friday in physics so we just reviewed for that. We went over electrostatics and circuits. We went over Coulomb's force law for a charged particle and the related formulas for an electric field. We went over potential energy for a particle in a potential difference of voltage. We also reviewed how to add resistors in parallel or in series. We went over Ohm's law and how to calculate current, voltage, or equivalent resistance.

Physics Tutoring review by Hannah in Olathe, KS
In today's session the student completed practice problems on metric conversions in order to study for his physics quiz tomorrow. His biggest difficulty was the direction of conversion -- particularly if he needed to multiply or divide to get to the correct units. But we did enough practice that he really started to get the hang of it.
