Physics Tutoring review by Mohammed in Mount Prospect, IL
The student informed me that he will be taking his physics final on Wednesday of next week, and was given a study guide with which to prepare. We started going over the sample problems on the study guide. Each numbered problem on the study guide involved multiple steps. Before I left, I gave him a copy of the solution manual so that he could go over the sample problems and get a better understanding of the steps and procedures of the solutions.

Physics Tutoring review by Dilbagh in Mount Prospect, IL
My first class with this student went very well. He came prepared with many questions so we immediately had material to focus on. Since there was such little new material in his class, we went through and reviewed much of his older content which he said gave him difficulty. Much of these trouble areas revolved around springs/Hooke's Law.

Physics Tutoring review by Michael in Mount Prospect, IL
The student was assigned to analyze the physics of certain actions in films or shows using YouTube. A Tom and Jerry scene was used to calculate the negative acceleration of Tom, from a derivation of Newton's equations of motion. A Fight Club scene was used to calculate the velocity of a body punched (by Brad Pitt to Edward Norton) using a two-body before-and-after momentum calculation. We did the same for the Apollo 13 launch, using F=ma to calculate the force needed to achieve the acceleration of the rocket after 10 seconds of a straight lift-off, estimating it's distance at that point and rearranging other of Newton's motion equations.

Physics Tutoring review by Ashley in Mount Prospect, IL
The student has quiz in physics on force diagrams. We reviewed her old worksheets, and worked through her new one. I then drew out some scenarios, and had her practice drawing force diagrams for them. We focused a lot on finding the perpendicular and parallel forces on a slope.

Physics Tutoring review by Efrem in Mount Prospect, IL
The student is beginning to prepare for the final exam; the teacher has given him some preparatory lectures and assigned some review problems for each chapter. We tackled a review of kinematics, including vertical and horizontal motion problems in word form. They entailed calculating times and velocities of moving objects and their placement in space. We were very successful in discerning how to approach the problems; the only impediments were poor calculations and misapplication of equations, so he will study from a list of appropriate relationships to supplement what the teacher provides.
