I am a naturopathic medical student at National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. I have my Bachelor of Science in biology from The Ohio State University. I have gained tremendous confidence in my capabilities through educational commitment and believe personal growth comes with true dedication. I focus on time-efficiency, utilizing my resources, and organization for academic success. Medical school allowed me the opportunity to dissect cadavers for one year, which greatly benefited my knowledge of human anatomy. I recently graduated Medical School after seven loooooong years (No pre-med... straight off to medschool- This is the Mexican system)I struggled a lot my first years of medical school. One... learning the medical language, Oh dear lord... It was soooo difficult learning how to change the term from "tummy ache" to "Gastrointestinal discomfort or Acute abdominal pain). This went on until I learned the etymology of the word, (believe me, It does help to know some easy and fun words from their greek, latin, french root) - If you want to ACE anatomy, this is important!Secondly, PHYSIOLOGY! i tried to ignore it, tried my best to get around and just do my own thing. Big mistake. After a while I started to integrate my reading into this magical and beautiful understanding on how or body works. It is a blissfully organized system.Learning pharmacology. Still struggle with that.So... I created stories, characters, songs, mnemotecnics, drawings, mind maps, flashcards.... you name it. I've done it.What works for me is not memorizing but really understanding the concept, apply it in my everyday life.Things started to make sense. It was an enlightment moment when I saw my first patient with Diabetes, I knew everything about it.Genetics, Pathophysiology, Presentation, Workup, Treatment plan and discussing with the patient what it means to have Diabetes. (It was sooo fun! )I would love to help you out during your training, exam week (we call it HELL-WEEK) and provide the tools necessary to help you accomplish your biggest dream (or just pass the exam...)After all of that reading, writing, not sleeping, drinking seven eleven coffee's in the middle of the night, I treat myself with things I am passionate about. I loooove to exercise (yoga, weight lifting, walking, biking, hiking) read good books (not that medical books are not good, but a little bit of Paulo Cohelo wont hurt me) singing, dancing playing the guitar. Laughing, eating, hanging out. BALANCE (or Homeostasis )I am currently doing research at Massachusetts General Hospital on Mind and Body medicine and its influence on a molecular, genetic, organ level) and I am sooo passionate about that. After graduating from The University of Alabama, I went on to get my Masters of Preclinical Sciences from Mercer University School of Medicine. Through my job as a National Cheerleaders Association instructor and tumbling coach I have experience working with a wide age range. I have also had experience working as a college biochemistry, organic chemistry, microbiology, immunology and general biology tutor. While I tutor a range of subjects, I am most passionate about biological and psychological sciences specifically biochemistry, immunology, microbiology and psychology. I believe in the power of education and have found a joy in learning that I hope to share with my students. In my free time, I love coaching cheerleading, yoga, snowboarding and cooking.

Over my undergraduate career I have tutored many different students ranging from grades 4-12 as well as several college classes. I have always loved being able to work with a student or colleague to find the right answer of a difficult question. I tutor math (Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra) as well as SAT math, English, and science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biochemistry). I really enjoy tutoring math and English! For my hobbies I enjoy being outdoors and outdoor activities including camping, hiking, backpacking and canoeing. I also like traveling. Conversational spanish is a skill that I acquired while traveling. I love spending time with my family and friends and I am advance rescue certified in SCUBA diving.

I have just received my BS degree in Biological Science at California State University, Fullerton. While I was there, I worked as a tutor for chemistry, biology, and physics. During my experience as a tutor, I learned how to address my student's needs to quickly adjust my explanation so that my student would understand. To improve myself, I attended work shops to learn more about tutoring and logged my progress in my journal. I still have things to learn, but that is what makes tutoring so enjoyable. Each session is different from one another and has its own unique challenges so that I can continue to learn and be a good tutor. Aside from my on-campus tutoring, I also tutored high school students in chemistry and physics. There are differences between high school and college students, but one thing I do find in common is that when we solve a problem together, we both get this feeling of accomplishment.Aside from tutoring, I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, and biking.
