Microbiology Tutoring review by Sandy in Huntington Park, CA
We went over Living Environment multiple choice questions that I had assigned last week. The student's correct answers has greatly improved since last session. This week we also focused on heavy review of the following topics: characteristics of living things, similarities among living things (life processes), chemical composition of living things (organic vs. inorganic), organization of living things, and basic cell structure and organelle functions. We used videos and "The Living Environment" review book for content review and multiple choice question review. Next week we will review homeostasis, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and disease as a failure of homeostasis.

We reviewed equations that vary inversely and jointly, asymptotes and how to find them, sinusoidal equations and trigonometric functions, S=OR, arc lengths, and area over a specific amount of radians.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Samuel in Huntington Park, CA
The student and I had a great session. We covered equilibrium and solubility problems to prepare for her upcoming test. She actually didn't seem to struggle at all with the material. I suggested she memorize the solubility equations before the test. The last problem on her study guide was challenging so I left her with that to work on. Overall, I think she is very bright; and after modest encouragement she is able to pick up all the chemistry concepts with ease. She should do very well on her final.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Lindsay in Huntington Park, CA
Today, the student and I continued to study for her Biology final. We began by going over the topics we did not cover last time; they were the ones remaining on her study guide. Then, I quizzed her on what I thought were important details to know, such as the chemical formula of photosynthesis, difference between DNA and RNA, and how translation is used to make proteins from a DNA template. While she has memorized most of the terms, she will need to focus more on memorizing key steps in all of the processes she needs to know (like, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, replication, transcription, and translation). Next week, once her other exam is complete, we will be able to focus more on her memorization of key facts.
