I'm a sophomore at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Physics and Classics and minoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. I'm qualified to teach a wide variety of subjects, but prefer to focus on the fields I'm studying in school listed above; I have a passion for those areas that I want to share with everyone, no matter the education level or confidence. I believe that no one is "bad at math," but many people haven't been taught math and science concepts in a way that matches how they best learn. As a result, I try to tailor my teaching style to be the best it can be for each individual student. With regard to math and physics, I myself prefer a physical, graphical understanding of different concepts, so I do best at explaining what seemingly abstract concepts actually mean in the real world and how they act on a graph.

I am an energetic, positive, 26-year-old teacher who graduated with my MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2017. I am currently teaching Second Grade, but have extensive and varied teaching experience, having taught students of all ages, even university level! I also have experience working with students with behavior and learning differences. It is my goal to make all of my students feel encouraged, heard, motivated, and successful.

I am a graduate of Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. I received my European M.A. in Latin and Italian Philology. In the past, I tutored children and adults interested in learning Latin and Italian. Post graduate, I was a translator for an Italian company. I am Czech and Italian citizen. The past 15 years, living in Texas, I have tutored children at the elementary school. I was also the head coach of a Destination Imagination team that qualified for their Global Tournament. I am passionate about Latin derivatives, History, and Italian music. I love helping students learn new languages; opening their minds to new cultures they may never have experienced before. Through my experience as an after-school program manager, I learned to build relationships and work well with students, parents, and teachers to meet student goals. In response to the pandemic, I quickly learned ways to adapt my educational youth work to a virtual setting. My social work background helps me connect with students on a personal and social-emotional level, which lays a trusting foundation for real growth and learning.

I am a Duke University graduate with a degree in Computer Science, where I also played football and am currently working on a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity. I have always loved math and science and problem solving and these subjects have always been easy for me. I know this is not the case with many people and I have been tutoring since high school. I used to volunteer the local elementary and middle school and also my peers. In college, I helped tutor teammates and family and friends. I was the go to person for math and science when someone needed help even friends siblings at home in different states. Every since I can remember I have always been good at math and enjoyed learning different levels. For tutoring, I have learned to adjust how I tutor based on the needs of the person because everyone learns math different. I currently have a full time job but in my spare time I like being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and animals. My family has a couple cats and a few dogs and I love to go spend time there with them.

I believe that education is one of the most fundamental aspects of a society's wellbeing, and that it is the duty of those of us who have been graced with the advantages of a good education to give back in some way; one of my motivations for tutoring is to do my part in that way.

I'm a PhD at Harvard studying German philosophy and classics (Greek and Latin). Next year, I will be starting law school to pursue my professional passion, tax law. I am deeply committed to the language and LSAT skills I've developed and I love to tutor students of all levels in these subjects. I can't imagine a life without teaching. My favorite part of teaching is helping students come to love -- or at least appreciate -- the details that make up complex subject matters. My favorite moment with any student is when the student realizes how fascinating a subject matter is after really mastering all of the "dry" details.
