In this class, I helped the student correct the essay she wrote about her trip to Alaska. We also went over some new terms. In addition, I helped her with some difficulties she has pronouncing her vowels in Spanish.

German Tutoring review by Xiomara in Warwick, RI
The student needed to study the reflexive form of verbs in Spanish for an upcoming test at the school. She is doing really well with conjugation but she needed to reinforce and practice the meaning of several verbs. We use online flashcards for practicing as that's the tool that she regularly uses for Spanish. We went over a quiz that she took at the school and we had the chance to review and correct the wrong answers. The class is retaking the quiz. She is very enthusiastic when it comes to study. I can't wait to see her scores improving!

German Tutoring review by Lizeth in Warwick, RI
We started with the reading pronunciation, then I asked the student some questions about the reading. Then we saw some new animal's names and wrote a story using them, and to finish we practiced the word order for adjectives. The strategy to learn animals was to play a game like Pictionary in which he chose the animal, looked for an image of it in my phone, drew it and then I guessed the animal. After that he wrote the name of it in his notebook. After all that we imagined the story together and then he wrote it. We corrected orthography and checked the reasons for the mistakes. The student is struggling with the pronunciation of the c in Spanish. We will keep working on that.

German Tutoring review by Olivia in Warwick, RI
Today we focused on completing the alphabet, and spelling with Spanish letters. We incorporated her mastery of numbers 1-15 and colors into learning the letters to spell them; the student seems to be catching on quickly. She tends to work with more focus if there is an end goal, such as my giving her a sticker for naming all the dates in a month.

German Tutoring review by Tully in Warwick, RI
We briefly discussed the history and plot of a movie we watched (El Libertador) and then moved on to conversation based around a restaurant scenario. We went over a menu and practiced situational phrases and conversation. We then did a brief review of directions before moving on to looking at traer vs llevar and venir and then the use of ir + infinitive, haber + ed verb and acabar de + infinitive.

German Tutoring review by Luisa in Warwick, RI
The student and I had our first session this evening. We used the session to get a good determination as to where he is as far as lessons in Spanish, what is working for him and where he is encountering impediments. He will be working on vocabulary words/meanings and writing the words on index cards so that he can practice memorizing, reading them out loud, and then we will set out to test his comprehension the next time we meet. I will be sending a note to his Spanish teacher to try to get all of the work he has done so far, the work he has missed, and a good calendar schedule of upcoming lessons and quizzes.
