I'm working towards my PhD in Marine Science at Stony Brook University (NY), doing research in the field of marine biogeochemistry. That's a bit of a mouthful, but basically it means I study the way living things interact with the chemistry of the ocean, and how that interaction gets recorded in mud and rock. I'm a PhD at Harvard studying German philosophy and classics (Greek and Latin). Next year, I will be starting law school to pursue my professional passion, tax law. I am deeply committed to the language and LSAT skills I've developed and I love to tutor students of all levels in these subjects. I can't imagine a life without teaching. My favorite part of teaching is helping students come to love -- or at least appreciate -- the details that make up complex subject matters. My favorite moment with any student is when the student realizes how fascinating a subject matter is after really mastering all of the "dry" details. When my students start internalizing the LSAT or languages I am teaching them, I know I am doing my job.

I am student who currently attends Yale University, with plans to major in/receive a degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics. My previous tutoring experience includes math tutoring for elementary school students, AP and standardized test prep for high school students, and tutoring students ages 3-18 at Kumon Learning Center. I tutor in all subjects, but prefer math and German. My tutoring style is organized and balanced, meaning I am both laid back in my teaching, but also very diligent about helping a student achieve his or her goals. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy baking a lot; I also enjoy traveling to different countries and trying exotic foods. As the oldest of six, I am very family-oriented and enjoy spending time messing around with my sisters and often breaking out into song.

I'm New York City born and raised. I graduated from the University of Chicago last year with a degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations. I am developing my own teaching methods to evolve traditional East Asian and French language acquisition, and to do this I need even more experience. My course of study has been directed at learning as much as I can about the culture, economy, and history of East Asia, China and Japan in particular. I view myself as someone who is entrepreneurial, collegial, individually motivated to produce high quality work, as well as foster a love of the subject which I teach. I am compassionate and enjoy working with both children and adults. I believe I have something to learn from everyone I meet.

I earned my B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University and an M.A. in German from UC Berkeley, where I taught college German and received training in foreign language pedagogy. I love to learn, I am drawn to travel, and the experiences I have had enrich my work as a tutor. I am a senior in the honors college at the University of Georgia, where I have a full tuition Zell Miller Scholarship, as well as a National Merit Scholarship and a Woodruff Scholarship. I am majoring in psychology and mathematics with a minor in German. In addition to my studies, I am active in the Psi Chi International Psychology Honor Society and a German language social program, and am heavily involved in social psychology research. Additionally I have received several awards for my performance in my math classes at UGA.
