I will be attending Brown University in the fall, where I will be studying public health. Having recently graduated from high school, I am very familiar with both the information and strategies required to succeed in standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT, and AP Exams. By self-study only, I made perfect scores on my first try on 8 AP Exams, SAT, and 2 SAT Subject Tests, as well as a 35 on the ACT. I know that a self-motivated student can achieve great success if they are motivated and organized in their study approach. I have been tutoring for four years, in areas from the sciences to test prep to language arts.As a tutor, I prefer to individually tailor study plans to a student's needs, and am adaptable in both the pace and approach we take to learning the material. My goal is to eventually prepare each student to a level at which they can succeed independently in the future.

I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where I received my B.A. in History, and the University of Arizona, where I received my M.A. in European History. As part of my training I spent years studying both Latin and German; the latter was my main research language and as part of my undergraduate program I spent three months in Germany learning the language. As a teaching assistant during my graduate program, I led discussion sections for both a World History and a Western Civilization course. I was responsible for creating lesson plans and grading student performance. Having taught students with so many interests (I only ever taught one History major) and of such different backgrounds, I find the challenge of making History interesting and relevant to students a rewarding one. This includes not only making the material of History interesting, but in showing that History is more than simply the memorization of dates and names; I firmly believe that the study of History provides skills critical to a student's academic and personal growth. I enjoy reading, playing guitar and bass, and team sports, especially baseball.

In 2005, I received my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University where I minored in History. In 2011, I studied in England to earn a M.A. in Poverty & (International) Development from the University of Sussex. I know first-hand the challenges associated with manipulating equations and writing extended essays. My favorite subjects to tutor are Math, Physics, History, and Engineering.During tutoring sessions, I strive to make students comfortable with the material and confident in their abilities.
