I am a current college student pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. I have worked as a math tutor for many years and have worked with ages pre-k to high school. Math is my favorite subject to tutor and my goal is to help people feel confident in their math capabilities. I love math and I know many people don't because they have had poor experiences with learning math, and I want to try as much as I can to give people a positive experience with math.

I graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology Education. As a first-generation, non-traditional student, I am able to relate to, and enjoy learning with, people from all walks of life. I have more than a decade of experience working with youth in the public education setting, plus three decades of parenting experience. Due, in part, to my passion for inquiry learning, I was chosen to train all secondary science teachers in my six-county area in the implementation of new science standards. I also enjoyed pioneering computer science into public education in Southern Utah. I served as Science Department Chair and as Lead Teacher in our school. As a family-oriented woman, I have been richly blessed in being able to spend time exploring the outdoors with my loved ones. I shine when helping you relate science to YOUR everyday life, and also in revealing to you how math is simply a tool of science--both applicable and enjoyable! I earned my bachelor's degree in history from Utah Valley University, graduating magna cum laude with high honors, and I love making historical topics accessible and engaging for a wider audience. My goal is to help students with history writing, including DBQs, essays, thesis development, and using evidence effectively. A lot of students struggle because no one has shown them how to organize their ideas or approach historical analysis in a manageable way. can help make it manageable. I like helping students build confidence and realize they're capable of understanding and thinking like historians. Outside of academics, I create online history-related content, including the history of comics and popular culture. This has helped me become a patient communicator who enjoys explaining ideas in ways that are approachable and easy to understand. My goal as a tutor is not just to help students improve grades, but to help them feel more confident and less overwhelmed by the subject.

I believe that lasting learning comes from within. As such, my goal as I tutor a fellow learner is to empower and facilitate, not force feed. I have loved learning in a variety of subjects throughout my academic career, and I strive to instill a similar love in those with whom I interact. I enjoy both the puzzle aspects of STEM subjects and the ability the literary arts have to make me believe I am watching events unfold in another time and place.When I'm not learning, I enjoy working with my hands. I've built a variety of furniture, I care for a 2500 square foot garden, and I raise chickens. I have both a pilot's license and a motorcycle license, though I don't ride either at the moment. While I currently work as a supply chain analyst for a major airline, I want to be an author when I grow up :)

Life's most rewarding pursuit is the cultivation of wisdom. When a person devotes themselves to learning all of their passions and desires are oriented to the best and sublimest things in life. My goal as a tutor is to impress upon my students a love of wisdom: To know how to think and learn what is best to think about. I have extensive experience helping students achieve their academic goals. I have tutored many high school students and undergrads pursuing degrees in literature, philosophy and theology. My goal is to identify the way my students learn and tailor lessons that appeal to their unique interests to build a bridge to the subjects they want to master. I have a bachelor's in philosophy from UVU, and I am currently pursuing a doctorate in systematic theology at Notre Dame. Additionally, I have a license to teach English Literature in secondary education and have worked in the film industry as a script doctor and screenwriter. My passion for the Spanish language began while living in Peru, where I immersed myself in the culture and quickly realized how powerful language can be in building connections. That experience inspired me to continue my studies formally in college, where I deepened my understanding of Spanish and broadened my knowledge of the many cultures it represents. I later spent time in Spain, which gave me yet another perspective on the richness and diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. As a tutor, I strive to pass that same opportunity on to my students.
