I am a graduate of the University of Delaware. I received my Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering degree and obtained minors in Mathematics, Economics, and Biomedical Engineering. Since graduation I've worked for a large diversified manufacturing company in one of their leadership rotational programs. Over the past 2 years I've moved from Hartford, CT to Charlotte, NC and currently reside in Milwaukee, WI. During this time I've been active in the local communities, volunteering up to 10 hours per week. Much of my volunteer work has been focused on helping adult learners in Math and English as they progressed towards obtaining their GED and also helping young learners in the same subjects. I am a strong believer in not only learning the material at hand, but also developing a study strategy that will ensure long term success, regardless of the subject.

I was born in Texas and moved to India with my family when I was very young. Last year I came back to the US to pursue my higher studies.I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Particle Technology. I have completed my Master's degree and while I search for full time employment, I want to utilize this time constructively and teach students and since I really enjoy teaching, I intend to continue doing so even after I have a full time job.Besides my academic interests in the field of science, I am extremely passionate about literature, music and the performing arts. I have been trained in Hindustani Classical Music for 10 years, I was president of my University Drama Club and also my School Debate Club and I am usually the go to person when there is want of poetic expression. Most of my free time is spent binging on old classic movies or singing out loud to classic rock and I also love to write.Having grown up with a little sister, I always took it upon myself to teach her (even if she didn't want me to sometimes). I have also taught few other kids and I realize that I very much enjoy the process of teaching and getting to know my students.I believe that the best way to teach someone is to first know the subject thoroughly myself, and then breaking it down in the simplest way possible for the student in a manner that they are able to relate to which can usually be achieved by establishing some common ground with the student.I am very much looking forward to getting to know some people through this platform and helping them learn in a fun way.

I am a graduate of University of Delaware, where I studied Anthropology and Theatre Performance. I have tutored extensively in math subjects (including SAT/ACT prep) which I have always enjoyed, being the son of a math professor. I have worked in various capacities as a math tutor/teacher, including at the Prefreshman Engineering Program, a summer camp in San Antonio, TX where I taught and mentored middle and high school students in math, science, and engineering topics. I have also tutored extensively in the San Antonio area (which is my hometown!). I emphasize understanding any material from multiple perspectives, which results in a sophisticated mastery of the content and allows students to feel comfortable with what they are learning, both in tutoring sessions and in the classroom. Whenever I tutor for test prep, my philosophy is to teach the material that the test is supposed to be testing, instead of teaching to the test. In addition to being a tutor, I am an actor, a long-distance runner, and an ultimate frisbee fan.

Teaching is about facilitating a process of discovery. In addition to tutoring, I work as a coach, because I want my contributions to the world to be about helping people excel and achieve whatever they are focusing on. As a Spanish tutor, I want you to grow your vocabulary and learn to use new grammar concepts. More than that, I want you to be able to express yourself, talk about the things that matter to you, and understand the worldview that comes with the Spanish language.

i graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I also hold a Master of Education in the Psychology of Reading from Temple University. I am certified by the state of Pennsylvania as a teacher of grades K through 8 and as a reading instructor . I also have certification as a teacher of preschool, Pre-K, and K from the Pennsylvania Department of Private Academic Schools.I have enjoyed teaching all levels, preschool through fifth grade, as well as in special education classes. My experience has been with entire classes, large groups, small groups, and with individual instruction.Elementary school reading skills(phonics, fluency, comprehension) and elementary school math skills are my favorite subjects to teach. Because success with social studies and science concepts depends on effective reading skills, I enjoy teaching those subjects as well.I have especially enjoyed working one to one with students, because each lesson can be totally structured to meet that child's needs. During this past summer, I tutored a student via Zoom, and the experience was very rewarding for both of us.I am passionate about helping children achieve, grow, and gain confidence in a positive and supportive learning environment.I pace each lesson according to the student's needs, using the modality or modalities (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, tactile) that work best for her, so that the end result is a feeling of accomplishment, not frustration. If a student is having difficulty with a concept or skill, I'll say, "This one is difficult, so let's try another way!"To help maintain a positive momentum, I remind the student, throughout each lesson, of what she has learned and mastered. We also will take a 2 minute break to stretch, jump, or do a yoga pose to energize and get more blood and oxygen moving through our bodies and brains! At the beginning of the first session, I like to chat with the student, so that she feels more comfortable with me , and I also get to know a little about her. We also talk at the beginning of every lesson to catch up on what we've been doing since last time. This personal connection is so important, as it increases our ability to work together in a comfortable way.At the end of each session, we always talk about all that the student accomplished in that lesson. We also acknowledge any difficulties that the student encountered, with the assurance that we'll continue working on and developing that skill. Ending in this way helps the student to feel good about her progress and encourages positive feelings about the next session. It's a win-win!I am very committed to keeping parents /caregivers informed about our work and about any reinforcement that the parent or caregiver can give at home. Because I always feel positive about working with children, my discussions with parents are positive as well!

I am a recent transplant to the Portland area after spending the last 4 plus years in Ecuador. I have been involved in education my whole life both as a student and teacher/professor, in various environments. As a student of Spanish,I have reached the highest level- C2(Advanced/professional) but I continue to learn and grow, research the best learning methods and tools, and take this to the classroom. I have helped students advance, improve and grow in Spanish, English, TOEFL test prep, and poker, and have formed many great relationships along the way. I'm easy going but like to challenge and connect with my students and really feel I do a good job adapting to allow them to get the most out of our sessions, classes, and my extensive experience. Currently, i am in the process of publishing a book about gaining fluency in Spanish which breaks down in an easy fashion the self- study strategies, tricks, tips, and tools that I used to become fluent in the language. Outside of the education world I have held some other interesting professional positions, and have traveled both around the country and world extensively. All of these experiences have made me a better instructor and tutor and I hope to be able to help you advance in Spanish, ESL or whatever it is you are studying!

The job of a teacher or tutor involves the consideration of many different factors and variables when working with students. It is not as simple as passing on information about a subject or topic. As instructors, we must not only inform, but also explain, clarify, backtrack, bring in outside examples, and respond to challenging questions. We must comfort and relax our students, and help them develop tools for success. We know that our job is challenging, because if our job were easy, then our students wouldn't need us.I feel that it takes someone who is cognizant of all of these things in order to be a truly effective educator. During my 8+ years as a high school chemistry teacher and tutor, I have developed the experience and the skills in order to help students with challenging subjects, and not only to improve their grades, but to improve their understanding and confidence with which they approach their classes. While my own knowledge of chemistry and math is very strong, that means nothing if I can not pass it on to people learning the subjects. That is where I take pride in my abilities though - my students over the years consistently praised my ability to take complex ideas and break them down into relatable and manageable ideas. I have seen countless students struggle initially, only to succeed and flourish with a little bit of effort and assistance. If you are interested in being tutored, you are most likely a bright, hardworking student. Chemistry and math are very difficult subjects to master, and very few people make it through them without the assistance of teachers, peers, or tutors. I am here to help any students that are looking to feel more confident and comfortable, to improve their grades, to gain better understanding of fascinating topics, and to prepare themselves for the rigors of college or graduate school. I will do whatever it takes to help you master the material, drawing on my years of experience and all of the practice I have had with these subjects. I take being an educator very seriously, and I will help anybody that is looking to help themselves.

Teaching is about passion, not only a passion for the subject but for the desire to impart knowledge on your students that will stick with them for a lifetime and prepare them to be part of a new and evolving future. In those terms, teaching is a process of engaging students and empowering them to pursue their own learning. To accomplish this, a tutor has to wear many hats: that of a mentor, a cheerleader, an expert, and others. Many times in the Physical Science class it can seem like an extension of math, an endless list of numbers of formulas that are just given as absolutes. The truth is that being able to solve problems is much less important than understanding the underlying concepts present. Having an understanding of these concepts will make the mathematical work that is involved much easier. The role of a tutor is to reinforce the instruction of a student's teacher and build up a base of knowledge with the use of real world examples. My teaching style is deeply rooted in the idea that each student is a unique human being who has to be listened to and given adequate attention in order to reach his or her full potential. I believe that every student can learn to appreciate and enjoy even the most difficult subject if their teacher has prepared a lesson in the correct way.

"My goal is to help you grow." As a tutor, no outcome is better than leaving that student with a sense of confidence that they can "do it" on their own. My job as a tutor is therefore to put myself out of a job. Whether we're conducting some side-by-side pair computer programming, or discussing high level concepts in object-oriented software design, or reviewing the formulaic steps to solve the quadratic equation, we seek the "A-ha!" moment where the student achieves a breakthrough in his or her thinking about the subject matter, about their potential for success, and therefore about themselves.

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. My passion for teaching began in high school, where I had the opportunity to tutor peers and underclassmen both within and outside of school. Over the years, I've developed a strong enthusiasm for STEM educationparticularly in mathematics and the sciencesthough I'm also capable of supporting students in English when needed. I believe that learning is most effective when supported by others, whether through teachers, mentors, or peers. Having personally benefited from tutoring, I'm committed to helping students overcome academic challenges and discover their own passion for learning.
