I have always had a love for learning. Being an English major, I was very interested in courses that focused on different literary genres because I was amazed how writers could elicit strong emotional responses through their use of language. I loved how authors were able to transport me to different places and time periods where I could personally relate to their characters. I feel that tutors, like authors, have that ability to make learning special for each student. I see it as an eye opening experience that enables individuals to progress to the next level of learning. To me, this is the desired result of teaching. Having a Masters degree in Education and experience teaching Language Arts Literacy programs, I am highly qualified to assist students in achieving their specific academic goals. My approach to tutoring is to tailor lessons according to each student's unique learning style so that they will be as effective as possible!

I am passionate about learning and work hard to instill love of learning in the students I tutor. I have my BA in Elementary and Special Education and worked with many different students while completing my degree. I was a student teacher in a 2nd grade classroom and a resource room teacher in a 4th and 5th grade classroom. Currently, I am completing my service term with Notre Dame AmeriCorps. Over the 2014-2015 school year, I worked at Apopka Middle School as a tutor/mentor. My responsibilities included working in intensive reading and math classes as well as a college-prep class.

I am a graduate of Monmouth University both undergraduate and graduate. I am part of both honor societies for Education and History. My joy is to help students succeed. I am most passionate about English, Literature, History, Science, biology and cursory general chemistry, as well as and Art drawing, color theory. I have helped others pass exams. I have skills in passing Praxis exams specifically History and English. I have helped prep for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams and Thesis writing. One of my dearest experiences is helping a struggling student prepare for a new school year, during difficult life crisis. I helped them be successful in a subject they were not fond of learning. We always seem to have the most fun and laughed through the difficult moments. In my spare time, I am passionate about but not limited to: I enjoy reading, which enriches my life. I practice meditation. I love watercolor painting. I learned how to be successful with this medium as a watercolorist. I have studied color theory and the method. I draw and sketch. I like etching for make printmaking. I am practicing gel printing. I can do origami and paper craft. I am beginning a journey into simple book binding.

I know how important a tutor can be and what kind of difference he can make in a student's life and career. When I was a kid, my favorite subject was Mathematics. I was very interested in numbers and enjoyed solving problems, but I had my challenges with some concepts. Then, in middle school, I had an amazing Math teacher who realized my interest in Maths, inspired me, and pushed me to get better. From that year i was able to overcome the challenges. I got much better with all the concepts and there was no turning back.I became so good in Mathematics, that I have decided to pursue engineering. I did my masters in computer science from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ. While I was studying for my Masters I had a great opportunity to be an SAT Math Tutor and help kids learn and improve in SAT Math. I helped them to get not just good but great test scores and pursue their dreams just like I did. It is very important to have great SAT scores to enroll in good colleges and achieve your dreams.I am passionate and patient with kids while teaching them Math. Try to understand what their challenges are, analyze them and tackle them one step at a time. I was able to help a lot of students get better with maths and their SAT math scores. I Currently tutor Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Statistics, SAT Math and Other Test Preps.

As an educator with over 10 years of classroom and tutoring experience, I would love the opportunity to help your child reach his/her highest potential. I have a BA in psychology and a MS in Special Education from Monmouth University. In addition, I am recently Orton-Gillingham trained. Over my years of working as a tutor at Monmouth University, where I completed my bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, and Spanish, I met hundreds of students who taught me the joy of teaching. I am a Monmouth University graduate with a Bachelors degree in Communications, concentrating in Journalism and Public Relations. While at Monmouth University, I also double minored in Sociology and Gender Studies. It was these minors that inspired me to look for a profession that would allow me to combine my love and reading and writing with public service and also help me make a lasting impact on society. What better profession would allow me to make a difference everyday than teaching? With that in mind, I returned to school at Kean University where I majored in English and Secondary Education and obtained my post-baccalaureate teacher's certification. Since then I have had the opportunity and experience teaching students at every grade level, from 6-12 over the past five years. While I have tutored many subjects, my biggest passion is literature. I love helping students develop an appreciation and love for reading. I also enjoy teaching SAT prep, particularly Critical Writing and Reading because it is so rewarding to see students improve once I help them learn the tricks of the test! In the summer there is no place I'd rather be than the beach and in my spare time I try to read for pleasure as much as possible, particularly young adult, science fiction, and dystopian novels.

I have over 15 years experience in the field of education. I have over 10 years experience teaching Spanish, French, and ESL. I am also certified K-8 all subjects and have experience tutoring math, reading, writing/language arts to elementary school students. I have taught reading using the Wilson Reading Program which is an Orton Gillingham Approach. I am currently a learning disability teacher consultant on the child study team conducting educational evaluations, case managing and assisting teachers and students with strategies to assist struggling learners, specifically with the special needs population. I am a senior at Monmouth University majoring in psychology. Upon graduation, I will begin a doctoral program in clinical psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology. I have extensive experience working as a peer tutor at Monmouth University helping fellow students succeed. Through this experience, I became a certified college level tutor and learned how to accommodate students with various learning styles such as visual or auditory. I have also learned how to assist students with mastering time management, organizational, and effective study strategies.
