I am a Monmouth University graduate with a Bachelors degree in Communications, concentrating in Journalism and Public Relations. While at Monmouth University, I also double minored in Sociology and Gender Studies. It was these minors that inspired me to look for a profession that would allow me to combine my love and reading and writing with public service and also help me make a lasting impact on society. What better profession would allow me to make a difference everyday than teaching? With that in mind, I returned to school at Kean University where I majored in English and Secondary Education and obtained my post-baccalaureate teacher's certification. Since then I have had the opportunity and experience teaching students at every grade level, from 6-12 over the past five years. While I have tutored many subjects, my biggest passion is literature. I love helping students develop an appreciation and love for reading. I also enjoy teaching SAT prep, particularly Critical Writing and Reading because it is so rewarding to see students improve once I help them learn the tricks of the test! In the summer there is no place I'd rather be than the beach and in my spare time I try to read for pleasure as much as possible, particularly young adult, science fiction, and dystopian novels.
