I have been a special education teacher for 9 years. I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, Learning Disabilities, Cross-Categorical Education, and Special Education. I love making connections with my students and helping them grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally as well. I tutor a variety of subjects - from academics to social-emotional learning and executive functioning/coaching. I know how challenging things can be for those who struggle and who are neurodivergent - I have Autism and ADHD myself. I work with a wide range of ages, from children to adults.*I accept everyone no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other personal characteristic. This is a safe place.
I am a 2nd year medical student in Indianapolis. I completed my undergraduate schooling at the University of Arizona and went to high school in Washington state. I have 3 years of tutoring experience with middle school - college level students. I love to help people and take a multi-modal approach to tutoring. I try to find ways students learn and understand subjects the best that might not be how they were presented in class. I look forward to working with anyone who could use my help!
I am very passionate about my students! As early as five years old I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I began tutoring in high school and went to college to pursue a career in teaching and education. I graduated from Spelman College with a BA in Spanish and Marian University with a Master's in Teaching. After receiving my license to teach I began a career teaching Spanish and English Language Learning. I have taught at all three levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Additional subjects I have tutored in include English, Math, and Social Studies. Outside of teaching I love to read, spend time with my family, volunteer at the library, and cook.
As a neuro/stroke bedside nurse (from medsurg to ICU), I've learn a passion of teaching new nurses. Nurturing vs "eating the young," has been a healtier method that I've learn improves patient care and outcomes over time. I had 8 preceptors as a new grad nurse, and it was overwhelming chaos.I have my BSN from Marian University - Indianapolis and my Masters in Health Leadership (MHL) from WGU. I am certified in stroke and medical surgical nursing with hopes to be certified in neuro and critical care nursing.I take any opportunity to teach new nurses, patient care techs, coworkers in school, and even my patients and families. I find satisfaction when someone has that moment when everything clicks or realizes something they've struggled to understand.
I am a dedicated Special Needs/Elementary/Early Childhood teacher and administrator eager to enrich the lives emotionally, socially, and academically of students by imposing a motivational, enthusiastic, and nurturing environment to encourage the development of their skills.I love working with children of any age and learning style. After receiving my BS in Elementary and Special Education, I have spent the last 34 years teaching in the early childhood classroom through 5th grade modifying and accommodating lesson plans to meet different learning styles. I'm passionate at meeting the individual needs of my students using various tricks in my toolkit and making learning fun, so they become curious to the world around them. I excel in teaching skills for executive functioning, autism, and sensory processing disorder at all age levels. My trainings do not stop in the classroom, but continue in the home with the family to provide consistency for the student to succeed. My husband and I recently moved back to Charlotte and I want to continue helping students become lifelong learners.
I have been lucky enough to work with many students as an educator for the past 10 years. I received my Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology for Marian University in Indianapolis and my teaching certification from Indiana Wesleyan University. Since becoming a teacher, I have worked with students in many different settings from rural to urban in both private and public schools. My prior teaching experience has been diverse as I have been a general education teacher, Title I teacher, language arts teacher and special education teacher. In fact, I have had the opportunity to work with students in grades 1st-8th at some point during my career! While I tutor many subjects, I am most passionate about reading intervention and teaching the Orton-Gillingham method. In fact, I recently completed training necessary to qualify as a Dyslexia Specialist in Indiana. The most rewarding things about being a teacher is seeing my students have that "AHA!" moment and grow in confidence during our time together. My philosophy when working with students is that learning should be fun, meaningful and engaging and something that sparks their interest in becoming lifelong learners. In my free time, I enjoy reading (especially mysteries), watching movies, spending time with my family and friends and learning new things that will help me to grow both personally and professionally.

I am a firm believer in educational inclusion and providing students with learning opportunities within the classroom with their peers. Teaching has been my passion for over 5 years now. I taught Spanish, but am currently tutoring all subjects. At the elementary level I can tutor Math, ELA, Science, and Spanish. For the middle and high school levels, I can tutor ELA and Spanish. It brings me joy watching students learn and achieve their potential. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, but have experience teaching the subjects mentioned above. Varsity Tutors has provided me with the ability to still teach, while also fulfilling my other roles as a mom and wife.
I graduated from high school in 2015. I am currently working on a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. I have always worked with kids. I help mentor kids through College Mentors for Kids at my college and I teach swim lessons. I love to teach singing because it is one of my biggest passions. I am currently in show choir at college and have been in choir classes since the 5th grade.I believe that all kids have the ability to learn. I want to allow students the chance to explore and to learn the lessons. Students should learn the information, not just memorize it. In my free time I love to workout, row and when I get the chance I love to go horseback riding.
I am an experienced tutor in STEM and English Language/Literature ranging from elementary school to college level education. I also have thorough experience in cracking the SAT, ACT, and MCAT exams.
