I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science in exercise science with a biology minor from Linfield College in Oregon. During my time as an undergraduate, I spent two and a half years working as a tutor and a teaching assistant for Human Anatomy and Physiology. I have experience with small group tutoring as well as one on one tutoring. I tutored middle school math and science during my time at Linfield as well. I am passionate about teaching not only subject material, but also helping students discover how they learn best. I believe that learning how you learn is the most important step in your path to success as a student. By using the subject material as a vehicle, I am excited by the opportunity to help students discover study methods and strategies that work best for them, and that they can apply to future classes as they progress in their academic endeavors. While my favorite subjects to tutor are anatomy and physiology, I am also happy to tutor students in biology, kinesiology, middle school math and science, english, and essay writing, among others. For the past two years, I have worked clinically in both pediatric cardiology as well as adult advanced heart failure cardiology. My clinical experience coupled with my dedication to academics has allowed my to be accepted into Physician Assistant school! While I am excited to embark on my masters degree, I am equally as excited to help you or your child excel in the classroom. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, and playing volleyball.

I am a graduate of Linfield College and a certified secondary ELA and middle level math teacher. I am passionate about helping students build confidence and reach their potential in and out of the classroom. My experience includes teaching 6-9th grade math in Oregon middle schools as well as student teaching and aiding in both English and mathematics classrooms. Some of my personal favorite topics to teach are narrative and argumentative writing, algebra I, and pre-algebra.With the impact of COVID-19 on students around the world, it is more important than ever that students enjoy and feel confident about learning. I approach tutoring with three primary goals: increasing student agency, empowering students with a love of learning, and improving academic skills and confidence.I always start by asking what students hope to get out of our sessions and what questions or topics they want to address. I provide examples, challenges, supports, and modeling as needed to adapt to each student. Giving students the power to guide their learning builds independence and empowers students. I hope students leave sessions feeling accomplished and excited about their learning experience.

I am a special ed Algebra 1 high school teacher. I understand what students struggle with, especially when it comes to learning disabilities as I have ADHD and have trouble with focusing. I have privately tutored grade levels K-12 as well as a few college students.I love music, mostly hip hop/rap. Whether I am at home or in the car, I am always listening to something. Health is important to me and I enjoy lifting and running. I used to play soccer when I was younger, and ran cross country and track in high school.I have a lot of patience and am easy to get along with. My clients always feel comfortable with me and I am good at adapting the conversation so that you have a positive learning experience.
I have a gift for helping students comprehend complex concepts: I am able to break difficult topics into simple components, and I am able to guide students in making connections. I am especially effective at working with students who feel they are "math challenged."I have been working one-on-one with students for the past ten years, both as a college instructor and as a private tutor. Helping students gain confidence in themselves and their ability to think mathematically is both my passion and my purpose.
