I am an incoming freshman at Creighton University, where I will be majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish on the pre-med track. In the past, I have tutored students in elementary reading, math through Algebra 1, psychology, and Spanish, and I currently tutor all of these subjects in addition to helping with ACT test prep. I am most passionate about teaching reading to elementary school children, as it is such an essential skill in life, and I absolutely love to see young students so excited about making improvements (especially moving from picture books to chapter books!) in their reading abilities. Having a strong education is so necessary to understanding and improving the world around us, and my goal is to try to make learning as fun as possible for students so that they are motivated to one day make their mark on the world. Outside of school, I enjoy running, biking, hiking, babysitting, and spending time with my puppy.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy before then graduating from Creighton University's School of Law. I am passionate about teaching because of the unusual path I took to academia.I left high school in 9th grade and didn't return until my early 20's. However, upon returning, I hit the ground running and never looked back. After graduating from Creighton Law, I received my Divorce Mediator certification, attended both the State and Federal Tax schools offered through the State of Iowa, and passed my Securities Industry Essentials examinations.I am a lifelong learner and am dedicated to being the best student, teacher, and mentor. I'm a father to three boys, and teaching my sons the path to success is my greatest job.

I graduated high school with a class of 11, so all throughout elementary and high school I was asked by classmates to help with homework. I found that I was often able to explain concepts in a way that the teachers did not, so that my classmates could understand. And I enjoyed helping them, finding I had a talent at them and feeling a sense of satisfaction whenever I saw someone grasp a concept.I've been doing unofficial tutoring like that all throughout school, but have had some more formal experience as well. During high school, I volunteered in our elementary to help the kids with homework after school. I trained with the ACT prep club at my university to help high school students learn how to take the ACT as successfully as possible. I am also a teaching assistant for one of the psychology professors, and I help students in introduction to psychology learn concepts and prep for exams.I went to Lindsay Holy Family High School and am a junior at Creighton University, where I major in Psychology and Theology, with a minor in Spanish. I am working towards my BA.I tutor in ACT prep, various math classes (i.e. Algebra I and Geometry), Spanish, psychology, and essay editing. I really enjoy tutoring in psychology, since I am experienced with it and love the subject matter (obviously, as it is my major!).My teaching philosophy is to help the student to help themselves. I try to make sure someone has a good grasp on the concept, rather than just the single question, so that they can succeed on similar problems in the future. I try to explain something in as many different ways as necessary.I enjoy reading and running. I also like listening to K-pop and K-dramas. I am Roman Catholic and very involved in my parish, helping out with lecturing and other ministries.

There, I earned my degree in Biochemistry while working as a coffee shop barista, environmental chemistry laboratory assistant, and emergency department medical scribe. Further, as an undergraduate, I developed a love for teaching as I worked as a Teacher's Assistant in various biology and chemistry laboratory courses and later had the opportunity to serve as a private tutor in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with students in the subject areas I love. With academic understanding comes excitement, further curiosity, and a sense of achievement. Leading my students toward this understanding is my goal, and something I take great pride in. In August of 2015, I began my medical school education at Creighton University. I am excited to continue working as a tutor while earning a degree that will allow me to be a life-long teacher.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me! If I were in a completely different profession, I would still find myself tutoring or teaching. I've always believed that every student can thrive when given encouragement, structure, and someone who listens closely to how they think and learn. For me, coaching students through the challenges of reading, writing, and communicationand watching their confidence growis the highest reward of my career. I hold a Michigan teaching license in English and have an academic background in journalistic writing, public speaking, and media studies through the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland, where I was certified as a Public Affairs Officer while serving in the National Guard. For the past ten years, I have taught English composition and literature at Portage Central High School in Portage, Michigan, working with students in accelerated, core, and accommodated ELA courses. These experiences have equipped me to support a wide range of learners, including those who struggle with motivation, confidence, or executive-function challenges. In addition to teaching, I serve as a behavior coach/student support specialist. This work gives me daily opportunities to support students one-on-one as they navigate academic, emotional, and organizational hurdles. These roles complement each other by helping me connect deeply with students as both a classroom instructor and a mentor. I am currently completing my Master of Science in Educational Counseling at Creighton University while continuing my full-time teaching and coaching responsibilities. Through my internship, I spend extensive time supporting high school students individually, helping them build communication skills, work through academic obstacles, and develop strategies that make learning more manageable. My tutoring approach on Varsity Tutors reflects this same mindset: patient, empathetic, tutoring tailored to each student's needs.

My tutoring philosophy is rooted in the belief that students flourish when they are invited into a community of inquiry one that challenges them, supports them, and encourages them to see politics not only as an academic discipline but as a lived experience. I often think of teaching as cultivating a diverse garden: each student arrives with unique strengths, needs, and perspectives, and my role is to create the conditions in which all of them can grow. I aim to guide students with openness, curiosity, and a commitment to helping them develop as thinkers, citizens, and members of an intellectual community. Additionally, I love political science so much that my B.A., M.A., and PhD are all from this field. Comparative Politics, International Relations, and American Politics are my greatest strengths.

I am a registered nurse and nationally certified critical care paramedic with extensive experience in emergency medical services, hospital-based care, and healthcare operations leadership. My professional background spans frontline patient care, high-acuity emergency response, quality assurance, and systems-level operations management. These combined experiences allow me to bring real-world relevance, structure, and clinical depth to every educational interaction. Throughout my career, I have worked in fast-paced, resource-limited environments where clinical judgment, teamwork, and adaptability are essential. I have responded to complex medical and traumatic emergencies, coordinated multidisciplinary responses, and managed operational systems that support safe and effective patient care. These experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy: education should be practical, evidence-based, and directly applicable to real clinical scenarios. As a leader and educator, I am passionate about developing confident, competent clinicians. I believe students learn best when expectations are clear, accountability is consistent, and support is genuine. I focus on building strong clinical foundations while also emphasizing critical thinking, professional communication, and ethical decision-making. I strive to create a learning environment where students feel challenged, supported, and encouraged to grow. My approach to teaching is grounded in mentorship. I enjoy translating complex concepts into understandable frameworks and helping students connect theory to practice. Whether discussing pathophysiology, pharmacology, patient assessment, or system-based care, I emphasize why decisions matternot just how to make them. I also value reflective practice and encourage learners to continually evaluate their performance and seek improvement. Ultimately, my goal as an educator is to prepare students not only to pass exams, but to succeed as safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare professionals. I take pride in supporting learners at every stage of their development and helping them build the confidence and competence needed to care for patients and communities with excellence.

During my time at Marquette, I tutored General Biology and General Chemistry, and I was a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry lab. Not only did I enjoy teaching students my age, but I also pursued teaching opportunities for younger students in high school and middle school. I was a gross anatomy instructor for high school students taking tours through the cadaver labs and I was one of the founders of the Marquette Brain Brigade, where a group of undergraduate students came up with demos/lessons in neuroscience to teach middle school students. Moreover, I sought out private tutoring opportunities at a company called Huntington Learning Center both during undergrad and during medical school where I tutored a wide variety of subjects, including ACT/SAT, for virtually all age groups. I am very comfortable teaching various subjects and ages, and I am a laid back and flexible person. The subjects I am most comfortable teaching would be the sciences anywhere from the basic level to graduate school level. I am so grateful for the educators that allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, and I would love to pass it on and help younger students achieve their goals.I am now a Resident Physician at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I am completing my 4-year residency in anesthesiology.

Having received my BA in English from Creighton University in Omaha and my master's in Creative Writing from Kingston University in London, England, I am back home in Omaha looking to expand my experience in tutoring. During the two and a half years that I was studying in the UK I also worked as a tutor. I did private, in-home tutoring as well as facilitating groups and classrooms. My primary subjects are English, ESL, Writing and Reading but I also work well with primary students in math. I have previous university coursework in Ancient Studies, so I am also very happy to assist with social studies and basic Latin.I am focused on the importance of education at every level and dedicated, specifically, to helping and motivating others to improve and perfect their fluency and mastery of the English language. Each student has their own goals with tutoring and it is my objective to determine my students' learning styles and to adjust my teaching methods accordingly in order to create the best environment for supplemental instruction. Learning is important and it should be fun, especially for children. Therefore, I incorporate puzzles and games into our sessions.I chose to study in the UK because I enjoy traveling and I love the rich history in Europe and particularly in England. I like to read and explore museums, and I really like to write. I have written several short stories and am in the process of revising a novella that I wrote for my master's dissertation. I have recently joined a writer's group and am looking forward to, one day, having some of my work published.
