About Me

I graduated from Harvard University and have always had a love of stories, leading to a major in Folklore and Mythology, a cross curricular degree that combined classes from the Social Anthropology, Fokloristics and English departments. As a certified teacher, I have had extensive experience tutoring students in a variety of contexts, from my work with a community-based organization in South Africa, to prepping middle school students for high stakes testing in the rural south, to coaching high school seniors prepare college statements. I am particularly passionate about language arts and I hope to help learners realize the beauty, complexity and joy of reading and writing well. I believe that education is transformative and necessary--and that one's education is a lifelong journey. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, yoga and exploring Portland's many offerings.
