Hello! I received my bachelor's degree in linguistics at the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign in 2016. I am an English, reading, writing, math, ISEE, SAT, and ACT tutor, specializing in aiding children and adults reach their goals while assisting them in completing homework assignments and essays, in addition to helping them prepare for tests and exams. I'm passionate about assisting students in developing their reading skills and math knowledge. My tutoring methods consist of breaking down complex topics into smaller steps so that I can help my students better understand the subject material. Most recently, I've worked with several students aiming to take the ISEE, SAT, and ACT tests, oftentimes collaborating with them in creating a study plan that would be most effective in attaining their desired scores while helping to improve their reading and math skills. I view each student as an individual with their own strengths and weaknesses, which enables me to design a unique study plan that strives to improve their weaker areas while emphasizing their strengths. Additionally, I assign homework that aligns with my tutoring sessions so that students can practice the skills they learned during the tutoring sessions and begin to comprehend common concepts featured on the ACT, SAT, and ISEE tests. Through practice and diligence, my students begin to improve in their reading and math skills while achieving their desired results in their chosen exams and classes.

I am a graduate of Middlebury College. At Middlebury I double majored in Economics and History and minored in Spanish. Since graduating over four years ago, I have held two very different jobs! Directly after graduating, I served as a Youth Developement Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru. For two years I lived with a host family in the Andes Mountains and developed sustainable programs in preventative healthcare and education! After Peace Corps I helped launch a technology startup in New York City that partnered with taxi drivers. I absolutely love tutoring and sharing my passion for a variety of subjects including math, history, economics and Spanish! I have extensive experience tutoring all ages, including adults and my approach is collaborative, individualized, and fun. In my free time, you'll find me reading an American History book, running in Prospect Park or finding music with my friends!

My tutoring journey began shortly after cracking the 99th percentile on the SAT as a high school senior. This was the start of what has now been an 8 year journey! I have worked with 50+ students, mostly in the areas of math, science and standardized testing. After college, I spent two years working as a biology teacher at a top charter school in NYC where my classes ranked #1 by test results. I left teaching to pursue a role as a financial analyst, but I have maintained a full roster of 1-1 private students since. I love it when students develop a passion for a subject like Biology, or develop an understanding and/or respect for Algebra, Geometry, etc. Most important to me is that the student ultimately feels successful, and sees improvement. Learning is a lifelong skill, and the desire to become better academically or to pass a class with a particular grade provides the motivation and opportunity to grow! After completing secondary school in South Africa, I did a PG year at a high school in Connecticut. During my year in Connecticut, I took Honors and AP Chemistry, Honors and AP Physics, and Honors Calculus; I also received the CollegeBoard AP Scholar with Honors Award. I have experience tutoring the New SAT. I understand the material and subtle nuances of the test. I have developed test-taking strategies that help a great deal when taking the SAT.

I am an entrepreneurial travel-loving media professional living in New Orleans. I have a Master in Business Administration from Tulane University and I love teaching all sorts of subjects, especially math. In terms of hobbies, you can find me long-distance running, studying data science, exploring new restaurants and traveling the world.

I am passionate about helping students of all ages learn challenging content. I am a National Board Certified teacher with more than 20 years of state certified classroom teaching experience. I have expertise working with elementary students as well as supporting the professional growth of aspiring teachers. I have earned degrees from some of the best schools in the country, including UCLA, Harvard, and MIT.

I have enjoyed teaching all my life. I have taught and coached swimming, Boy Scout skills, classes and small groups in church, college classes, and enrichment classes for home schoolers. I like tutoring one to one because of the flexibility it allows me to have in tailoring the tutoring to the individual needs of the student.

I am a tutor in math and computer science subjects. I think that every student has the potential to be good at math, but many have lost confidence somewhere along the way. My goal is to help students find that confidence again. I have a Master's degree in Math and a Bachelor's degree in Math and Computer Science. I have tutored for several years at the college level in both math and CS, with some classroom experience as well. I have also done some tutoring with middle - high school aged students. I work best one-on-one, and I really enjoy working in algebra, calculus, and pre-calculus. But mostly I enjoy helping students gain math and CS confidence!
