I'm a motivated and enthusiastic engineer with a drive to always continue learning, share knowledge with others and inspire.I began tutoring in high school helping my peers in subjects I was confident in following the AP exam or SAT subject tests. By tutoring people I was close in age with, I was able to better understand their struggles and confusions.I continued in university where I would help friends through subjects I recently completed and walk through concepts that the teacher struggled to make relatable.Even as an engineer in the professional world today, I am constantly teaching other whether it is explaining an idea I have or a way something should be done. I cherish the opportunity to communicate and enlighten others and I hope I can help you.

I am an incoming sophomore transfer at Northwestern University, where I plan to study political science and legal studies. I graduated high school in 2020 and then took a gap year, during which time I completed several internships but truly found my passion as an intern at my local legal aid organization. After college, I plan to pursue a law degree and eventually become a lawyer or judge.I had multiple opportunities during high school to work with younger students, from working as a summer cello teacher to volunteering as an assistant kids' tennis coach to mentoring beginning musicians in my youth orchestra program. I greatly enjoyed each of those roles, as I found the experience of passing on my skills and, hopefully, my passions to those younger than me to be extremely rewarding. As a tutor, I look forward to helping students of all ages in a variety of subjects and test prep areas so that they can succeed in their courses and exams while developing a passion for learning.

I like helping people learn because learning is key to our personal development.Even for an older person like myself, learning is a lifelong proposition. The more we learn the more successful we can be in our careers and in our personal lives.I tutor mainly business courses. I like teaching business because if someone understands how to manage a business they should always be able to have a job.I received my Bachelor's in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. I also achieved a concentration in marketing and a certificate in real estate. My teaching style is to be thorough and patient. Repetition is the key to all learning.Listening is crucial to being an effective tutor. Listening allows me to understand the comprehension of a student and adjust my teaching to help the student learn better. When not tutoring I still run my local advertising business. Twice a year I also run my fireworks stand. Some of my favorite off-work activities are travel and sports. I also enjoy reading, exercising, and hanging out with friends. I have traveled to a few countries in North America and several countries in Europe. Travel itself is a learning experience. It is fascinating to see how people in other countries live and to experience their culture.

I graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neuroscience and minors in Psychology and Hebrew Language and Literature. Throughout my time in college, I continued to work on study methods to help me maintain a high level of understanding of topics while enjoying the process of learning as well. Being able to figure out what study methods worked best for me (regardless of the subject I was studying) is the reason that I believe I was successful in my undergraduate studies and is crucial in any kind of learning in my opinion.I strongly feel that focusing on what a person enjoys and using their strengths toward their advantage is the only way to help someone truly learn well and recall information correctly. This is the type of strategy that I would like to employ when I tutor your child. Because everyone learns differently, I will need to speak to the parents before the first tutoring session. The first thing I'd like to do is get to know your child by speaking to you. I would like to understand what your child enjoys to do (hobbies, sports, etc.) and what you feel is the best way your child learns. After I have a better understanding of who your child is, I will attempt to incorporate the things that your child enjoys to make the tutoring session much more fun and exciting. Whether it's through visuals, references or mnemonics, I will try to discover what works best and will continue using this method to teach your child the subjects that your child struggles with. My hope is that your child will continue to use and develop these methods of learning that they enjoy on their own as well so that one day they too can apply it to any future subject that they might struggle with.In my spare time, I enjoy sports (especially basketball), Krav Maga, the beach, traveling and meeting new people. I look forward to speaking to you and helping your child succeed in school and to help create a better path for your child to learn.

I am someone who has always loved helping people learn. Watching another person undergo the "AHA" moment is one of the best experiences, I believe, someone can have.I have taught briefly at the high school level and assisted at the graduate level, and I have found that I am skilled at adjusting and catering my teaching abilities to students with different past experiences that require different ways of learning. I am currently a practicing biostatistician and a PhD student in biostatistics at the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst.I am excited about the opportunity to help others learn.

As a retired teacher, I enjoy understanding the energy of the learner and each students special learning process. I have taught special education, English, reading, writing, and art at every grade level. I am currently a senior at Truman State University studying History and minoring in English. I primarily tutor in two areas: math and history. Since the two subjects are very different, my tutoring styles differ for each. My goal as a tutor is see my students succeed on their own. When working with Statistics students I go through their homework one problem at a time. I will talk the student through the first problem and then will give a problem with similar conditions and have them attempt it on their own. Through this, the student will be learning how to complete the problem with low stakes and low stress. When tutoring in History, my goal is to fill in the missing gaps. To do this, I facilitate a conversation about the subject, whether that be the French Revolution or any other historical event. By having a conversation, dry historical information becomes more interesting and memorable.I began tutoring with Varsity Tutors in the Fall of 2015. Before that, I have experience working at my high school tutoring as well as working with younger kids and getting them interested in learning. In the Spring of 2017 I took the semester off from tutoring because I was studying abroad in Ireland, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As a history major, visiting historical sites, such as Rome and Paris, really brought my history books to life and I cannot wait to incorporate this experience into my tutoring. I am an avid reader and will be graduating university with my bachelors in History within the next year.

AP Art History Tutor • +29 Subjects

I am a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida where I attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. I am passionate about the English language and understand the difficulties of the language that some may struggle to grasp. I also tutor History and have excessive experience in European and Art history in particular. My tutoring strategy consists of breaking subject material down into smaller steps and working with the student to create small goals, making it easier for them to see their progress and the direction they are heading in. In my spare time I love to read, paint, and cook; right now I am exploring traditional Spanish cuisine and attempting to create the perfect paella.
