My name is Shavon Rodwell Brown and I an experienced educator of over 10 years. I have taught grades K-5, served as a reading specialist and worked as an adjunct professor. In addition, I have served as a student teacher supervisor and presented at educational conferences. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. Most recently I completed my doctorate degree in education. I enjoy teaching and helping students of all ages learn and grown. One of my long tern goals is to become a published author of an education book that would help parents and teachers.

As a lifelong bilingual educator and instructional designer, I am deeply passionate about helping students unlock their confidence in Spanish and communicate with real-world purpose. I'm a native Spanish-speaker (born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia!) and, culturally, I define myself as Caribbean-American. I bring over 13 years of professional experience teaching Spanish to students at the high school level, including Advanced Placement, IB Language B (Spanish), and proficiency-based curriculum design. I have served as a Spanish teacher, global education program leader, academic coach, and family engagement facilitator, supporting diverse learners and partnering closely with families and school communities. I am a dual graduate of Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a concentration in Mass Communication Journalism and a Master of Arts Degree in English. I am also a graduate of Regent University with a Master's degree in Cross Categorical Special Education and a focus on Learning Disabilities. I have been in the Education field for 25 years. I began my career as Collegiate Tutor and Substitute teacher while I was in Undergraduate school. From there, I taught Middle School Language Arts (Grades 6 and 8.) I have taught Adult Learners pursuing English as a Second Language. I was a Sylvan Learning Center Instructor, a Homebound Instructor, and an Adjunct Professor. Currently, I am an Elementary School Case Manager and Special Education Teacher I love spending time with my family, crafting, writing, watching movies, and traveling. I was born and raised in Argentina and moved to the United States in 2004. Nowadays, I enjoy being the mom a 15 month old baby girl and the wife of my loving husband. I am all about learning and exploring new disciplines of study. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a special interest in web applications development.
