I am a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bioinformatics. I, also, received my Master of Science in Computer Science. While studying at UAB, I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the entire time. I have been a TA for Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry, Introduction to Computation in Python, Automata and Formal Languages, and Computer Vision. I tend to tutor courses in computer science and basic biology/ genetics courses. Although, I do tend to gravitate towards tutoring for computer science courses in Python and Java. My teaching philosophy is that everyone deserves to learn in an environment and pace at which they are comfortable. I, also, believe that learning should be fun. I try to impart these ideals on the students that I tutor. In my spare time, I enjoy watching documentaries and finding new movies/ TV shows to watch and coding.

Hello! I started tutoring by accident and fell in love with teaching. I first started tutoring organic chemistry as an undergraduate, then I had microbiology during graduate school, and now I'm tutoring K-12. My heart has always been science but I enjoy lower levels maths such as basic math with Algebra as my stopping point. My background is in biochemistry and biomedical sciences. Chemistry is my favorite subject because it includes math but in reality anyone who studies chemistry or biology should have a good understanding of both to succeed. It is my experience, there is no one way to learn, everyone has their own style. As a tutor, I ask a lot of questions in the beginning so I can determine the learning style so I can alter my teachings. I will use every tool I have in my arsenal to ensure my students understand their material. I look forward to helping as many students as I can succeed in the math and science.

I am a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduated with honors, majoring in neuroscience and minoring in mathematics, chemistry, and French. I aspire to become a physician, especially a neurologist, since I am kind of obsessed with the brain and our nervous system. For the next year, I will be working part time as a scribe at the Northside Hospitals in Atlanta.Ever since high school, I have been a tutor in one way or another. I was a peer mentor at my high school???s writing center for three years in a row. Although I was not paid for my services, I enjoyed tutoring other students because teaching helped me expand my knowledge on the material, as well. That is when my interest in tutoring began. I kept tutoring in college as well with the athletic department and TRIO academic services. Through my experiences, I have grown as an educator, learning different tactics and strategies to help students expand their knowledge. My passion for helping others has not left me and I would like to use it to help students in this program.

Hi! My name is Julia.I currently work as a statistics tutor at Harper College. I also have a BS in Immunology and MS in Biomedical Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a MS in Computational Data Analytics from Georgia Tech, where I served as a TA for the introductory coding class. I graduated high school in 2017, and scored a 1570 on the SAT, 34 ACT, and a perfect 1520 pSAT. I am an AP scholar and National Merit Finalist. I scored a 5 on the AP Biology exam and although I did not take the AP Statistics class in high school, I still scored a 4 on the exam after self-studying the material. I customize my tutoring style for each student based on how they learn, but always like to emphasize how and why we get to an answer, not just giving the solutions or blindly running through formulas. I myself prefer to learn this way because it helps with knowledge retention and relies less heavily on rote memorization, which can be tedious at best and even impossible with more complex subjects. If that sounds good to you, I'd love to schedule a session with you or answer any questions you may have. I'll hopefully see you soon!

I majored in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduating in December 2015 with honors (BME honors and Science and Technology Honors program) and going on to earn a Master's degree in Management Information Systems from the same university in 2019. I am currently pursuing a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the University of Illinois at Chicago and hope to start a career in data science and analytics. I greatly enjoy helping others learn and tutored throughout high school and college; I love seeing the light flash on in a student's eyes when they finally understand something they had been struggling with or when they easily solve a problem. I have tutored both young children as well as high school and college students, in just about every subject. I particularly enjoy language tutoring; I am fluent in Arabic and French and I love literature and poetry. I also love to tutor math and science subjects. My tutoring style is very much student-first; I listen and observe to determine the best approach for each individual student and what methods or strategies will be most helpful for you specifically. I am not averse to making a fool of myself with song or dance if it will help! I enjoy what I do and I want the students I work with to enjoy learning as well.

I believe strongly in the ability of education to improve one's quality of life; I still enjoy learning new topics every day.
