About Me

I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1989. I worked as an RN in med-surg, rehab and public health while I worked to receive my Master of Science in Maternal-Infant Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) and became a Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 1993. I worked in outpatient OB/GYN for several years and returned for a Post-Graduate Certificate in Family Health from UAB and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2000. I have practiced in primary care, pediatrics, public health, convenient health care, corporate health, and management. In 2014 I passed the certification exam to become a Certified Medical Examiner for the Dept of Transportation. Since 2016 I have been working part-time as a traveling FNP, licensed in 15 states. I am most passionate about nursing and nurses. I was very fortunate to have had the benefit of older nurses and nurse practitioners teaching me. I look forward to opportunities to do the same for people becoming nurses and NPs.I know the value of education in improving quality of life, and too often the current processes in education and testing have become a barrier for students. I want to help those who want to become nurses and NPs overcome these barriers.
