Hello Young Scholars, I am Dr. Lindsay Carey Dixon, and I am honored to welcome and join you on your journey towards academic success. I offer over 27 years of teaching experience. My inception began in Chicago Public Schools system as an elementary school teacher in the subjects of writing, social studies and American & U.S. History. My passion for writing was embedded in my spirit when I was in the fifth grade...I knew that I wanted to be a writer and teach other kids to write and instill a true passion for writing and reading in all its literary components. I have served as an Assistant Professor of English in the collegiate realm. I am author of fiction and non-fiction short stories. I possess a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University. My teaching philosophy is true...I believe ALL students can and are excellent learners with the application of understanding and knowledge which produces wisdom, faith and confidence. I am a graduate of Southern University and A&M College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Since college, I began teaching ELA to middle school students. I am most passionate about ELA, Math and teaching adolescents life skills. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my husband, family and friends. A fun day for me involves traveling, attending concerts, visiting amusement parks or shopping.

Hi, I'm Elle. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and I work with students who are serious about passing their exams, bringing up their scores, and students who are willing to work to get it. I cannot do it without your help too! Most of my students come to me after they've been studying for weeks or months and still aren't seeing results. I help them fix what's not working and focus on what actually moves their score. I specialize in high yield areas like fluids and electrolytes, cardiac, respiratory, and pharmacology, and I tailor every session to your weak points so your time is used efficiently. For younger students, I take the time to understand your learning style and use that to cater to your individual needs. I can change my teaching style to fit just about anyone, including students with IEPs. If your exam is coming up and you're ready to be focused and consistent, I'll help you get there.

I am from the United States of America. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Education and Speech Communications. I am also certified to teach English as a Foreign Language. I have over 10 years of experience teaching in various school districts, and four years of experience as an online ESL instructor. Hey there! My name is Tori and I have been tutoring students since college. I have always loved helping students, which is why I was a high school history teacher for two years before entering law school. I received both of my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marshall University, and then I obtained my J.D. from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! I currently hold an active Alabama law license, and I work in public criminal defense. I tutor because I miss teaching and helping students. While in law school, I was a teaching assistant in Torts, Civil Procedure, and Legal Writing. I cannot wait to work with you!

I am a Math and English tutor. Why English? I love to read and am a stickler for grammar. I have a vast vocabulary because of my love for reading and can always think of different ways to say the same thing in essays, papers, etc. Why Math? I like it, I'm good at it and I've noticed that a lot of kids hate it because they aren't good at it or the opposite-they aren't good at it because they hate it. I am here to try to bridge the disconnect between students and their Math skill set and get them to see that they can overcome that obstacle. I love learning from the students I tutor. I love seeing them grow and outgrow me.

I am very passionate about education and helping young adults close gaps in learning. I have been in Education for over 19 years in Louisiana and Texas serving in a variety of roles including Middle and High School English teacher, Academic and Instructional Coach, Testing Coordinator (Campus and District), and Assistant Principal. Currently, I am completing my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction focusing on Literacy at Texas A & M Commerce.My background and experiences have made me the most patient and resilient educator!! I am a graduate of Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (B.A. Spanish) and Wayne State University (M.A. Teaching Foreign Language). I have been with Detroit Public School since 1992. In high school, I struggled with Spanish all four years and when I applied to college I challenged myself to give Spanish just one shot. Spanish finally clicked for me and I have never looked back. That experience allows my students and tutoring clients to relate to me.My career as a Spanish teacher began in 1994 at a local area high school and I have demonstrated my teaching ability to many students and adults including preschoolers within my church to police officers in my community.My interest beyond the classroom setting include traveling abroad, collecting Barbie dolls and cooking and entertaining guests. I also am an avid world news watcher..My tutoring strategies are to establish a great rapport with the student, assess his/her learning style, give students opportunity to ask as many questions he or she needs, build their confidence as a language student and be an overall support system for the student.My teaching philosophy toward language is that language is a unique and important part of our culture and each child has a unique approach to language acquisition.
