I have always believed education to be the key to a better and brighter future, and I show that love to my students. I am a graduate of Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History. Since graduation, I worked with Exceptional Student Education, teaching Math and Science in Indiana. When I moved to Florida, I became a GED Instructor, teaching each subject on the test with individualized education plans. I have always enjoyed tutoring a wide range of subjects, but I am most passionate about History, English, and Math. I also tutor in GED preparation. I find the best way to reach students while tutoring is to break concepts down in a way they will understand, then go step by step in helping them get to the correct answer. I have experience in helping students become comfortable with their writing skills. In my free time, I enjoy reading and listening to true crime and historical podcasts.

My purpose in tutoring is to use my finance degree, experience as a stock broker, and also my personal research of economic theory to enhance the understanding of my students pertaining to various aspects of economics and finance, as well as business in general.
Hello! My name is Harjot and I'm a CS student at Purdue University, and I hope to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment through my tutoring! My goal as a tutor has always been to have fun while learning and create a space where students can be themselves and open to learning rather than scared of failing. My main subjects include computer programming and mathematics.
I recently graduated with my Master of Arts in History degree with high honors. My area of focus is early modern European history and my thesis focused on the German Reformation. My Undergraduate areas of focus were both American and European History. I have experience both taking all History AP Exams offered as well as tutoring them alongside AP Government and Politics.I have a passion for history since my AP Human Geography course my freshman year of high school, it threw me into both the academic and independent pursuit of historical knowledge. I am a regular volunteer for the Indiana Historical Society and judge for National History Day. It wasn't until my senior year in high school where I discovered my love of political science when I signed up to be part of the academic team, We The People. The ability to understand, interpret, and apply the U.S. Constitution led me into the field of political science, where I volunteered with local politicians in grassroots campaigns to both practice my civic duty and to help others do something that our ancestors fought tooth and nail for--participation in government by voting!I will use my passion, experience, and knowledge to create a learning environment that strives for understanding rather than blanket memorization.

I received my degree in Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University at IUPUI in Indianapolis. I have worked countless hours with classmates and friends tutoring them to prepare for exams and class projects. I currently tutor pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. I love tutoring Trigonometry best because trig comes up countless times in engineering and it is now somewhat dear to my heart; however, Algebra is just as important since it is the building block towards something greater. My tutoring philosophy is that learning should be fun. The more you know, the stronger you are as a person. Learning shouldn't be a tedious exercise but an empowering tool. When I tutor, I attempt to inspire, to show the big picture and why this stuff matters by using real world examples that students can relate to. Education aside, I'm sure we have a lot in common. I'm a pretty normal guy who enjoys his down time. I like sci-fi movies and books, video games, biking, and hanging out with my friends. I think school and academics are very important; however, having fun and knowing who you are are just as crucial.
Every single student is different. And all have unlimited potential for growth and improvement. No matter what grades they are getting or what interests they have. Sometimes - often - it takes spending adequate time looking for unique approaches that meet the student where they are. Where school classrooms have to teach a whole class full of students - my role is to determine what YOU need and what works for YOU.
I am a PhD student in Mechanical engineering at University of Colorado Boulder. Also, I received my master degree in Biomedical engineering from Purdue University. My undergraduate also major was Biomedical engineering with focus on biomechanics. I am pretty interested in tutoring because helping students to solve their problems causes a good feeling. I have tutoring experience of mathematics including Calculus, Algebra and Geometry. Specifically, I have taught mostly mathematics and Physics related courses to high school and undergraduate students especially for the students who are preparing for different types of exams. I also have experience of tutoring biology and physiology in the university because of doing research in biology related area.
I have always had a passion for mathematics and its applications. Throughout my professional and educational background as a biomedical engineer, my project experiences ranged from designing a prosthetic hind limb for a German Shepherd to researching the pupillary response to cognitive load. Mathematics played a key role in the success of these projects. As a mathematics tutor, I will ensure a student's success by creating an engaging environment that is adaptive to the student's learning style. I will strive to make learning mathematical concepts a fun and enriching experience.
My teaching license is in History and Government. However, I do have a background in teaching SAT reading comprehension and sentence structure, and vocabulary. Throughout all my professional experiences, my philosophy has always been relationship first. I've developed strong relationships with my students and mentees through active listening and patience. Only through truly knowing what's important to a person can you genuinely help that individual reach their full potential.
I graduated from IUPUI (Indianapolis University-Purdue University Indianapolis) with a degree in Pure Mathematics in the spring of 2015. I am currently enrolled in the Applied Statistics graduate degree program at IUPUI, which I plan to finish by the spring of 2017. I have been a tutor for about three years now, tutoring friends as well as other clients by word of mouth. I have been a substitute teacher since the fall of 2015 which has given me plenty of experience in learning how to motivate different types of students. I am qualified to tutor nearly all math subjects. In the past, I have tutored Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. I love to tutor Pre-Calculus and Calculus because I find it exciting when students are able to grasp the more difficult topics in mathematics. When tutoring students, I like to encourage them to think for themselves. I have found that critical thinking is the most vital skill in understanding mathematics. To encourage this kind of thinking, I like to ask as many questions as possible and take a hands-off approach so that the student has time to process the information before giving them any answers. Additionally, I think that students need to enjoy their time with the tutor in order to gain an enthusiasm for the subject. Thus, fun is also an integral part of my teaching philosophyIn my spare time I love to play piano, guitar, and drums. I have been interested in music from a young age and it takes up most of my free time. As a Christian, I am heavily involved in my church activities. Since our church's youth pastor left to teach in the Dominican Republic, I have been co-leading our youth group for a few months now.
I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and my Master of Science in Education, both from Indiana University. I have taught for over eleven years and tutored for nine. My tutoring and teaching subjects include English, Writing, Creative Writing, Poetry, Reading, Human Services, Social Services, Global Social Services, Small Business Development, Personal Finance, Life Skills, Women's Health, Sexual Harassment, Management, and Life Coach. My favorite subject to tutor is Personal Finance. I enjoy this the most because this is one area that everyone, including children should know and understand. It is a necessity for self-sufficiency. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style include learning plans, student-centered, active listening, active learning, and critical thinking.
