About Me

I am a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington (IUB), where I earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Psychology, and Neuroscience. Through my experience as a student, undergraduate teaching assistant (peer tutor/AI), and research mentor, I learned that effective and empowering learning is mostly about HOW you study as opposed to HOW MUCH you study. My best teachers always taught me to focus on solidifying the big picture (high yield) concepts first and add in smaller (low yield) details afterwards. This practice of breaking down complex ideas into fundamental first principles made me understand just how powerful knowledge could be and how it could be used to solve the world's hardest problems. This made even the smallest and most tedious of details easy to learn. I applied these same concepts to my students with tremendous success. In the process of learning and teaching, I fell in love with fostering "aha" moments while sharing my most passionate academic interests with others. Ultimately, that's why I'm here at Varsity Tutors! I want to give all of you the best of the teaching experiences that I was given, as well as include the things that I always wish that I had. While I tutor in almost every subject, I'm most passionate about Spanish and the sciences. Spanish gave me an entirely new culture to explore and people to connect to, while science helped me understand just how incredible our universe can be. Consequently, both are near and dear to my heart. Shortly after graduating college in 2019, I started the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Indiana University School of Medicine. I am fortunate to be simultaneously working towards my MD and towards a PhD in Neuroscience. I want to use my career to improve our understanding and management of psychiatric conditions as well as to train the next generation of great thinkers and innovators. Outside of academia, I like to compete in Olympic weightlifting, travel, do outdoorsy and adventurous things, listen and dance to hip hop, and spend time with the homies. I'm constantly discovering new passions, and firmly believe that personal growth is just as important as academic development.
