Hi! I'm Kayla. I hold a BA from Brigham Young University and recently completed my MFA at Hollins University, where I gained valuable experience teaching and mentoring students. I specialize in academic writing, research organization, thesis development, and revising for clarity and flow. I also support students in creative writing, public speaking, and reading comprehension. My teaching philosophy is rooted in helping students feel embodied in their learning. I often incorporate kinesthetic and creative tools to make abstract ideas more tangible, encouraging students to engage with their work through both intellect and self-confidence. I love helping learners find their unique voice, refine their communication, and approach challenges with curiosity and self-assurance. My goal is to create a collaborative and encouraging space where each student can grow as a thinker, writer, and whole person.

I'm Meghana, and I'm a recent graduate of Yale University, where I majored in English Literature with a concentration in creative writing. I have worked with undergraduates on journalistic projects, taught creative writing workshops for middle and high school students, and tutored elementary school students in reading and listening comprehension.Awards:-Scholastic Art and Writing National Medalist (writing portfolio, poetry).-Yale Journalism Scholar.-Columbia College Chicago Young Authors' Competition Fiction Finalist.-Nancy Thorp Poetry Contest Honorable Mention.-Yale Nathan Hale Associates Scholar.
I am passionate about English and the power a well written essay, article or poem has to transcend boundaries, inspire ideas or spark conversation. I studied English in college and Communications in grad school. I love the power the a well written essay, article or statement has to inspire, educate, provoke thought and wonder. I'd love to help you develop your English skills!
I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in political science from Hollins University. I had the wonderful opportunity to study in France and spend a semester in London. Finding a positive learning environment where I was able to thrive was a turning point in my life and shifted my career route towards education. Following graduation, I earned a Masters of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University. I also earned CA teaching credentials in Social Science, English, and Multiple Subject (elementary). I have worked with all types of learners as both a secondary English and history teacher but also as a tutor for students in grades 5-12. I am most passionate about giving students the personalized educational experience they need and deserve. I teach most history subjects, English, writing, and study skills. I am at my best working with struggling learners who need to build the skills necessary to become lifelong learners. I believe each student has the capacity to learn. Often the struggles students have stem from a lack of academic literacy and executive functioning skills. These can develop overtime while working through school content. I overseeing curricula for a national group of secondary schools and am currently seeking a Doctorate of Education-Learning Technologies at Pepperdine University. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy exploring the city, traveling, seeing friends, and attending theatre productions.
Hello! I have a B.A. in Creative Writing and Theatre from Hollins University. I have a strong passion for writing and am eager to help others develop a similar passion.
