I'm a current PhD student in the history department at Georgetown University who is also an experienced instructor with Varsity Tutors. As a recipient of several degrees, the most recent being a BA in history from Hillsdale College and a MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from Stanford University, I have long sought to make teaching my profession. Meanwhile, as a volunteer grade school teacher and a tutor with this company, I have many years' experience helping students reach their full potential. I am capable of teaching students in many subjects, including reading, mathematics, test prep, Latin, and especially writing, history, and literature. In practice, I am comfortable adapting to different learning styles and specific student preferences. Outside of my academic and career endeavors, I enjoy cooking, reading, and listening to and making music.

I am currently a sophomore at Hillsdale College. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in English. I tutor Middle School Math, English, and Reading.

I graduated from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Politics and later a Master of Arts degree in Politics. At Hillsdale, I am currently working on my doctoral dissertation, which focuses on political theory and the relationship between politics and religion. Over the past seven years, I have tutored middle school, high school, and college students in mathematics: pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. During my time in graduate school, I have also counseled graduate and undergraduate students in writing and exam prep for their classes, especially in political science. I always approach tutoring wanting to point out to students what they already know and help them build on this knowledge. I believe students "teaching back" to me helps them solidify their understanding of concepts in any subject. I ultimately aim to help students cultivate habits for self-education that they can carry with them throughout life: critical thinking, problem-solving strategies, and clear communication of ideas. When I am not writing my dissertation or tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family, experimenting with new baking techniques, and volunteering at my local church.

Education is at the core of all my work. I have a strong and growing passion to help educate those around me in finance. The teachers that I have had over the years have had such a strong impact on me and my personal and professional growth that I have made it a goal of mine to help others in all areas where I have expertise. I have attained my Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Analyst designations and believe that my experience and study habits will provide others with a helpful way to review and assess the information in their own studies. I attended Hillsdale College, earning a degree in Financial Management and launching my career in the financial planning and investment research world.

I love ancient languages and want to help you see how fun they can be, as windows into different cultures, stories, and ideas! With a strong background in grammar/translation, years of tutoring experience, and a love of active and immersive pedagogy, I am excited to use my skills to help Latin and Greek come alive for you. I also have a love for English literature and experience editing and would love to tutor you in reading & writing!

I graduated from Hillsdale College in Michigan with majors in History and Latin. Currently I am working on my Master's degree in Public History and North Carolina State University. I have tutored history and Latin through academic honors societies at Hillsdale. I did two semesters of history tutoring and 4 semesters of Latin tutoring. This included helping college students at all levels and also some high school students. In addition, I have been involved in many school programs at several historic sites, teaching history to primarily grade school students. This is one of my favorite ways to teach history--I like being able to bring the past to life. I am dedicated to helping students understand the subjects they are studying and develop a passion for them. I want to create a pleasant learning environment and allow my students to find their potential. Outside of academics, I love spending time in museums (after I earn my Master's, I want to work as a curator). I also enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities.

I love learning and being involved in the learning process. The most rewarding moment, for me, is helping create that "aha!" moment for my students.I have been tutoring students of all ages in languages - French, German, Latin, and Spanish, among others - and the social sciences - including sociology, psychology, and linguistics - for more than 8 years. This includes children of 7 all the way up to professionals in their 50s and 60s. It's never too late to start learning a new language!I graduated with my MA in Linguistics in May 2015, and received my BA in French and Sociology in May 2011 with a minor in German.I am thrilled to have the opportunity to show my students how speaking foreign languages, learning about the social sciences, and reading can be both fun and relevant to everyday life, and learn how to improve their skills in these areas.

I graduated from Hillsdale College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in both English and Art. After graduating, I spent the next year living in the Republic of Georgia, where I taught conversational English. Upon returning to the States, I spent some time working as an illustrator for a small publishing company in Louisville, KY. As of 2021, I've continued to illustrate, edit, and tutor on a freelance basis. While I tutor in a variety of subjects, my favorite subjects would be literature and writing. I worked in the Writing Center while at Hillsdale College, and found that I love to help students discover their voice and unique writing style. In addition, I love to explore literary themes and bring stories to life for students -- both for students who already love literature, as well as those who may have found it boring in the past.In my spare time, I enjoy writing fiction, and have had several short stories professionally published.

I am a student at Hillsdale College, where I plan to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. I see biology and chemistry as literal building blocks for our understanding of the world around us. Knowledge of atoms, cells, and the systems that they make up is foundational to our greater understanding of life. I am most passionate about biology and chemistry, though I also enjoy English and writing. I see education as the most liberating endeavor one can attempt, and I try to tutor with the proverb "teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime" in mind. Educated individuals are free to think for themselves, make informed decisions, and build the best life possible. I hope to pass this teaching philosophy on to my students. When I'm not studying or teaching, I'm running, reading, playing an instrument, or trying to make my life a bit more organized.

I really love tutoring and sharing my love of learning with other people. I've tutored middle school students for a year and I love it. My students and I usually meet 1-3 times a week and they have all made significant positive changes in test scores and overall understanding of a variety of subjects. I am patient, encouraging, and friendly. I understand that each individual learns differently and I tailor my lessons to each student.My hobbies are exploring downtown Phoenix, playing sports, making art, and listening to music. I have a cocker spaniel named Ranger and a chronic french fry craving, for which the only cure is french fries. My favorite author is Fyodor Dostoevsky and I'm about to begin pursuing degrees in Art and English at Hillsdale College in Michigan. I hope to meet you soon!

As a Biochemistry and English double major who graduated from Hillsdale College, I am well-versed in a number of subjects and would love to tutor you in mathematics or science or help you to become more proficient as a reader and writer in the humanities.I love exploring and adventures, and I believe that some of the best exploring can happen in the world right around you. All of creation is filled with such wonder! Oftentimes, your subject matter at school is filled with fascinating aspects that you have yet to uncover; my tutoring style reflects that notion--I will guide you to a place where you then will have all of the tools to take the next step forward, but I will not do that for you. You must be willing to work, but I am very happy and capable to assist you along the way. I recently finished my first year of teaching sixth grade at a charter school which seeks to furnish "willing students" with a "rigorous education in the humanities, sciences, and the arts with such instruction in the virtues as will best develop the mind and character of its pupils," and I will seek to do the same here at Varsity Tutors.
